This Drain Sucks: Siphonic Roof Drains Reduce Cost AND Carbon Footprint
Course Description:
Traditional gravity storm drainage requires
sloped pipe dictating the need for multiple
vertical stacks within the design. What if
verticals could be combined?

Siphonic drainage allows the pipe to run dead

level flat, utilizes ½ the diameter pipework, and
provides 3-4x faster discharge for less ponding.

Less vertical risers mean less chase space on

every subsequent floor. More rentable/usable
space back to the client.

Learning Objectives:
- How siphonic roof drainage works
- Benefits of no-slope storm pipe
- Rules for a siphonic system
- IPC/UPC code compliance
- How to layout a siphonic system for
design: less verticals, less chase space,
less civil connections, less trenching

Final Takeaway:
By the end of this presentation, all those in
attendance will be able to understand the
monetary impact a Siphonic system can bring to
their project as well as the reduced maintenance
costs for the lifetime of the building.

Statistics:
Up to 65% reduction in material, labor, trenching
