Kls : II A
Simple sentence
An independent clause, also known as a main clause, is a group of words that contains a subject
and a predicate and can stand alone as a complete sentence.
For example:
I love to read."
A dependent claus, also known as a subordinate clause, is a group of words that contains a
subject and a predicate but cannot stand alone as a complete sentence. It needs to be combined
with an independent clause to form a complete sentence.
For example:
For example:
•"Because I love to read," (dependent clause) "I often visit the library." (independent clause)
In this example, the dependent clause "Because I love to read," cannot stand alone as a sentence,
and it needs the independent clause "I often visit the library" to complete the thought.
A simple sentence is a type of sentence that contains one independent clause and no dependent
clauses. It consists of a subject and a predicate, and it expresses a complete thought.
For example:
"She sings."
In this example, "She" is the subject, "sings" is the predicate, and the sentence expresses a
complete thought. It is a simple sentence because it contains only one independent clause.
Simple sentences are often used in everyday communication because they are easy to understand
and can effectively convey a message in a clear and concise manner.
