About:

● Lagos Food Bank is a private non-profit organization committed to: fighting


hunger, solving the problem of malnutrition and eradicating poverty.

● The temporary food assistance program provides food and non food items to
the vulnerable households within low-income communities thereby improving
their nutrition and dietary intake.
Problem Statement:

● 133 million Nigerians are multidimensionally poor and food insecure -


National Bureau of Statistics, 2022

● Lagos has the highest number of food-insecure people in the country.


Impact:
● 2,084,000 beneficiaries served since 2015.
● Over 2,000,000 kg of food distributed.
● 156 communities served.

We also give the opportunity for Corporate organizations and individuals


to fulfill their CSR objectives and give back to the communities through a
wide range of partnership collaborations.
Partnerships:
● Over the years, we have partnered with over 500 top-tier corporate
organizations and individuals, both Local and International to reach
low-income communities

● We have brought their CSR goals to fulfillment, while putting a smile on


the faces of thousands!
● A box of Hope for the TEFAP program costs ₦20,000
(standardbox) and ₦14,500 (mini box).

● The package contains both food and non-food items that can
sustain a family of five for 2 weeks or longer.

1. COMMUNITY OUTREACH –

● We deliver the food boxes directly to the beneficiaries in low-income communities.

● There will be a pre-distribution activity which involves proper screening and

registration of the most vulnerable families in communities.

● Your organization has the liberty to pick a community from our mapped-out

communities, or we can select a community for you.

● You can choose to reach as many families as possible, based on your budget.
2. FOODBANK OUTREACH –
● This involves having already registered beneficiaries come into
LFBI foodbank warehouse at Mangoro, Ikeja on a pre-scheduled day
to pick up the food boxes.
● You can choose to reach as many families as possible, based on
your budget.

When you partner with the Lagos Food Bank:

● An exclusive outreach will be scheduled for your organization in either a community or the
foodbank premises.
● Your team will be allowed to wear their branded items – face caps, shirts for the outreach
● Employee Volunteering - employee engagement program which gives your team the opportunity
to participate fully in the entire process – from packaging to distribution.
● Graphics impact report will be shared with your team – will include high resolution media pictures
and videos.
● Distribution activity report will be shared at the end of the outreach.

● We believe our donors and partners have a right to


know where their donations go and how it is being
utilized.

● We have a high-level reporting system that covers


pictures, videos. number of beneficiaries,
demographics of beneficiaries as well as challenges
encountered (if any).

● We offer an appealing opportunity for your team to


engage fully in our volunteer program. This not only

1. QUESTION: Can we select the specific areas/communities that we want to feed?


ANSWER: Yes, you can. LFBI has a database of over 170 communities that you can make your choice
from.

2. QUESTION: How do you identify your beneficiaries?


ANSWER: We usually go for a location inspection before every outreach to ensure we interact, determine
and register vulnerable. We also have access to a database of beneficiaries that walk in to the foodbank
daily to be registered which we can call to come to the foodbank for an in-house outreach intervention
(foodbank outreach).

3. QUESTION: Do we get a report on outreaches done?


ANSWER: One of our deliverables in Lagos Food Bank is to provide details on each
intervention made. These details are in the form of pictures, videos and a detailed written report.
These would be sent to the partners after each outreach is completed.

4. QUESTION: Do you have the capacity to store foods with short shelf life?
ANSWER: We have a cold chain facility (Refrigerators, freezers) to store foods in order to
extend their shelf life and allow us more time for distribution

events?
ANSWER: Yes, you can.
6. QUESTION: Who handles payment for the publicity?
ANSWER: Internal publicity (social media, newsletters, annual report) is handled by LFBI.
External publicity (mainstream media, extra blog posts) is handled by your organization
7. QUESTION: Can my team pick time and dates for outreach.
ANSWER: Yes, you can pick suitable dates for the outreach. LFBI can also suggest some dates to you based on our activity
calendar.

8. QUESTION: How many hours is the outreach activity?

ANSWER: The entire distribution time takes an average of about 3-4 hours, depending on the location and
number of beneficiaries to be reached.
9. QUESTION: Can we bring our media crew to cover the event?
ANSWER: Yes, you can.
10. QUESTION: Instead of bringing donating cash, can we bring food items that will be sufficient for the
number of beneficiaries we want to reach?
ANSWER: Yes. We can advise you on the quantity of items needed to reach a particular
number of people. Please note that you would also be required to pay an administrative fee.
