Organization and Management and Institutional Development Activity 4- finishing school

There is a huge gap between theory and practice in the higher education. The curriculum of all programs
offered in Higher Education institutions are still loaded with General Education Courses (subjects). Less
attention is given to the desired competencies of the programs offered to make them competent and
efficient in their workplace when they will be hired after graduation. For example, to gain the
competency of being a successful teacher, schools send their students for OJT (Practice Teaching for 3
months only). The industry-based immersion or On -the -Job training is too short to gain the needed
skills and competencies in the industry.
