Sasya Shyamala’ Krishi Vigyan Kendra (SSKVK) was established in the year 2013 for the district
of South 24 Parganas under the aegis of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and
Research Institute (RKMVERI) as the 2nd KVK in this district (South 24 Parganas).

• Day 02
• ATC regarding the activities of centre
• The Agricultural Training Centre (ATC) was earlier known as the
Gram Sevak Training Centre.
• It was started in 1967 with the financial support of the Department
of Agriculture, Govt of West Bengal for Pre-service and In-service
training of grassroots level extension workers of Agriculture
Department along with the training of farmers' sons.
• In 2005 ATC was nominated as the State Agricultural Management
and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) by the Govt of West
Bengal as well as Govt. of India for human resource development
activities, at state level in the sector of extension and management
for the extension functionaries of Agriculture and allied
Departments. In 2014 the SAMETI, Narendrapur has been declared
by MANAGE, Hyderabad as Nodal Training Institute for conducting
Govt. of India-sponsored training programme, titling 'Agri Clinic -
Agri Business Centre (AC-ABC).

LOKASIKSHA PARISAD
• The Ramakrishna Mission Loka Siksha Parishad has been
engaged in rural development and upliftment of rural
disadvantaged communities for the last six decades, in the
spirit of Swami Vivekananda, The avowed objective of the
Parishad is the empowerment of the people in general, un-
reached in particular through health, education, economic
and environmental development.
The major programs which are run are:
• Joint forest management
• Watershed management
• Vivekananda child development
• ICBS
• Sundar ban development
 DAIRY UNIT
• The dairy unit of Narendrapur is so big , It consists about 150 of cattles. The
Ashrama has a model Dairy Farm with 25 cross breed cows, bull and calves.
It is maintained here in order to set an example before the village people of
this island as to how to keep the cross breed cows instead of the local
breeds.

FARM MECHANIZATION UNIT

• The farm mechanization unit of Narendrapur campus is so vast and it

has so many equipments like a Paddy -cum- harvester ,Rotavetor ,
Power tiller, Nursery Transplanter , Straw Reaper , Seed cum fertilizer
drill etc.
Soil testing unit

• In this unit we had learned about how we can test soil by different
methods, PH test, Macronutrient/Micronutrient test , we can analyze
EC , Sulphur , Potassium , Phosphorus etc.And also we learn about the
prepration of Trichograma and Tricoderma .
• Different machines for anylazing soil condition.

❖RKMVERI, Narendrapur Campus is one of the three off-campus faculty centers offering a variety
of programmes from undergraduate to doctoral levels (as well as research) in fields of
agriculture, rural development, biotechnology & allied subjects, environmental sciences, disaster
management, etc. that are designed to impart to the students both theoretical and practical
expertise in their respective domains. It has total area of 150 acre.

VISIT TO ICAR CRIJAF
• Introduction: On the 8th day of our visit, we embarked on an
insightful excursion tour to ICAR CRIJAF Barrackpore. The Indian
Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Central Research Institute
for Jute and Allied Fibres (CRIJAF) proved to be a fascinating
destination for our group.
• Overview of ICAR CRIJAF :ICAR CRIJAF is renowned for its pioneering
work in jute and allied fibers. The institute plays a pivotal role in
advancing agricultural research and fostering sustainable practices.

• The ground floor stacks books and bound
journals, section for old unbound journals,
reports, a well equipped bindery and modern
conference room.
• First floor has spacious lending counter, huge
reading room, newspaper enclosure, career,
special collections, research cubicles, office,
acquisition section and processing section.
Photocopying facility, computer lab, officers’
rooms and a meeting room are available here.
 Back to Howrah from Mayapur
• On 10th Day of our tour we travelled from Mayapur to Howrah Junction station
by bus approximately Unfortunately due to brigade in Kolkata of CPI we were
able to visit 130 KM the Science City .We reached station approximately 6.00 PM
in evening and after reaching we Visited the mall near to the Howrah Junction
Avani Riverside Mall where we had our Dinner After that we came back to the
Station and Climbed on train Kriya Yoga Express Left junction at 9.30 PM in M3
coach for Ranchi and reached Ranchi Junction approximately at 6.15 AM in
morning of 8th of January 2024.
