Troubleshooting 3G and 4G Radar Systems

This guide outlines the steps we take with each radar troubleshooting call, email, or social media question we
receive. Following this guide is the most effective way to solve a radar issue.

If a "No Scanner” or “No Radar” message is shown on the center of the screen, please follow these troubleshooting
steps to help diagnose the problem.

STEP 1: Check Main Power Supply

 If voltage is <12.5 V, then check electrical supply connections and condition of batteries
 If voltage is >12.5 V, then proceed to Step #2.

STEP 2: Check Rl10 Power Supply to the Dome

 At this point, check the MFD and see if the Radar will now go into Standby mode. If not, proceed to Step 3
STEP 3: Check Voltage at End of Dome Plug

 If the voltage was good at the RI10, but has now dropped at the end of the Radar Cable, this indicates a
faulty Radar Cable

STEP 4: RJ45 Plug

 If all voltages appear okay, check the RJ45 plug at the RI10 to see if the cable connections were
stretched/damaged when the cable was pulled through the boat during installation
STEP 5: Check Ethernet Cables

If you only have one Ethernet cable running from the Rl10 to the display, then swap out the Ethernet Cable. If you
are networking with multiple displays and a NEP-2 Expansion Port, then check to ensure the power supply to the
NEP-2 is good and then perhaps swap Ethernet Cables. If you are able to see mapping and Sonar imaging from a
second display, then Ethernet is okay.

Final Assessment
If all voltages check okay and the Ethernet cable is undamaged and functioning correctly, then it could only be either
a faulty RI10 module or the Dome itself. If you are getting a "No Spoke Data" message, it could be power related,
but most likely an internal hardware issue within the Dome itself. Both are covered by a two-year warranty. If
warranty has expired then it could be covered by the 5 year In-Service Replacement at a reduced cost. Replacing the
Rl10 would be the least expensive option. Replacing the Dome would be the last step in this process. After making
any changes, and firing up the system again, make sure you wait for a period of time for the handshake to be made.
Usually a minute or so.
