Theoretical Framework

A flow chart demonstrating the potential of calamansi fruit extract as a perfume.


Citrofortunella microcarpa (Calamansi) has a tart flavor described as a cross between
mandarin and lime. As seen in the flowchart its fruit extract contains citric acid, which
is a typical fragrance in perfumes. Because of its natural scent, the experts believe that
the citric acid contained in calamansi is the chemical that is effective in the production
of perfume.
