How many languages spoken in Pakistan?


A) No. of languages.
B) Write complete detail about five languages including region province and expected
population.

ANS (A):
About 72-75 languages are spoken all over Pakistan.

ANS B):
Following are some of the unique and famous language spoken in Pakistan:
 Siroli.
 Punjabi.
 Brahui.
 Pashto
 Saraiki.

1) SIROLI: the old name of Siroli is “SARAIKI”. Its dialects in northern Sindh, it
distinct from the Saraiki spoken in southern Punjab.
Spoken in Shikarpur, Larkana, and Naseerabad.

2) PUNJABI: Punjabi language Community in Pakistan is numerically the largest


community, comprises of 44.15% of whole population.
Spoken in eastern and central Punjab; Faisalabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, and the
surrounding districts of Punjab.

3) BRAUHI: It is spoken in Balochistan like Khuzdar, Quetta, Kalat; and it gain origin
from countries; Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran.
It is a Dravidian Groups who are principally found in Balochistan. They exist in
southern side of Balochistan which connects Iran and Afghanistan.

4) PASHTO: It is spoken in KPK (Khyber Pakhtoon Khaw), Balochistan region which is


named as Quetta.
It is divided into two dialects:
 Northern Pashto.
 Southern Pashto.

5) SARAIKI: Saraiki is an Indo Aryan Language of the Lahnda Group. Almost half of the
region of southwestern Punjab have Saraiki speakers.
About 26 million people speak which includes the cities; Multan, Bahawalpur,
Chiniot, Deraa Ismail Khan (DIK), Khanewal and so on.
