Indian Council of World Affairs invites Applications for the positions of Research
Associate on contract basis to undertake research on areas of foreign policy and international
affairs. The programme is open to Indian citizens. Candidates having the following
qualifications may apply:

Essential Qualifications:

(i) M.Phil / Pursuing Ph.D. with at least 1 year experience in established research
institutions.

Or

(ii) A Master’s Degree in Humanities and Social Sciences with more than 60% marks or
an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed, with at least 3
years of research experience in established research institutions.

Desirable Qualifications:

(i) Research experience in area studies such as Europe, South Asia, Africa, ASEAN, Latin
America etc. or experience in specialised fields like energy security, climate change,
international economy, multilateral institutions, cyber security, technology and international
relations.

(ii) Published at least two articles in journal/websites/newspapers or contributed to a

published report.

(iii) Excellent academic record with an active research engagement in established Research
Institutions/Think Tanks /University in the field of International Relations and World Affairs.

Duration

The duration of contract will be for a period of 1 year and extendable by a further
period of one year, subject to requirements of the Council and satisfactory performance.

Selection Procedure

All the applications will be scrutinised by Competent Authority of the Council and
the selected candidates will be called for interviews. The decision of the Competent
Authority shall be final and binding and no queries shall be entertained after the interview
and selection process is complete. The selection process may be done on need basis after
taking into account the requirements for Research Associates.

Remuneration

Selected Research Associate will be paid a consolidated salary of Rs 45,000/- per

month. TDS will be deducted at applicable rate.

Termination

ICWA can terminate the contract at any time, as ICWA deems fit, and without
showing any reason. The appointment may be terminated by either Party to the Contract at
one month's notice in writing, or payment of one month's contract amount in lieu of the
notice.
