Ans: The first child told Ebenezer that the next day was Earth Day,
and the whole town had been picking up garbage for weeks, so
Ebenezer should pick up his garbage. The second child said that
looking after the environment is everyone’s business, and this is what
Earth day is all about.
2. Why is Earth Day celebrated? When was the first Earth Day
celebrated?
Ans: Earth Day is celebrated to enjoy, learn about and help our
planet. The first Earth Day was celebrated on 22 April 1970.
3. Why is the future of the Earth frightening?
Ans: The future of the earth is frightening because if we continue to
waste resources and pollute the planet as we are doing now, it will
some day become a wasteland covered in garbage and pollution where
no living things can stay.
4. Explain with reference to context:

“Yes it’s me, but I’ve changed!”
a. Who is speaking to Ebenezer Litterbug?
Ans. The person speaking to Ebenezer is Child 1.
b. How has Ebenezer Litterbug changed?
Ans. Ebenezer Litterbug has changed because he has finally
understood the effect of pollution on our earth and has realized
that he can, and will make an effort to help save the earth.
c. What are the children celebrating?
Ans. The children are celebrating Earth Day.
Think and Answer:
1. By the end of the play, Ebenezer Litterbug is a different
person. What do you think are the reasons for the change in
him? Discuss with your partner and write them down.
Ans. Ebenezer Litterbug might have made a comparison
between the times/places he was taken to by the three
ghosts. He had been impressed by the cleanliness and
greenery. So, he decided to change himself.
