Dear Parent/Carer

Costume Design Workshops with the Mercury Theatre held at The Gilberd School
Thursdays 15.15-17.30 in the autumn term.

As your child has registered their interest in participating in a costume design workshop, I
am pleased find below some important information regarding the trip.

The Mercury Theatre will hold the workshops at the Gilberd School in their textiles
department where the students will have an introduction to patterns, design and the sewing
machine. They will be contributing to the costumes at CCHSG main show.

We will be leaving from school via school minibus by 15.15 promptly. The estimated return
time to CCHSG is 17.30. Transport to and from The Gilberd School will be provided by the
school. A member of CCHSG staff will be present throughout the trip. Students will need to
attend every session to take part in this workshop. The dates of the workshops are as
follows:-
21 September
5, 12 and 19 October
9, 16 and 30 November
7 and 14 December

The school has insurance through Essex County Council covering all organised school trips,
journeys and off-site events. Cover includes personal accident, personal property and
money and personal liability. Parents should note that insurers will only entertain claims for
loss/theft where the incident has been reported to the police at the time (or exceptionally
within 48 hours).

Students are required to wear their school uniform for the workshop. All materials will be
supplied. The party leader reserves the right to withdraw any student from the trip if the
student’s behaviour and conduct, prior to departure, is inappropriate and does not comply
with the school’s expectations.

In order for your child to take part in these visits please complete the electronic consent form
when prompted to via email from EVOLVE+, by Wednesday 20 September.
