UNDER THE AEGIS OF HUMAN VALUE CELL
About UHV
Universal Human Value is a systematic study of
human being, the nature/existence and human
conduct (the role of human being in nature/
existence). Universal human values (UHV) play a
significant role in the whole life of a human being.
These values in the education system are necessary
to create holistic behavior among students who are
future of our country. However, the present
education system just focuses on acquiring large
amounts of information, passing examinations and
procuring many higher degrees for the job. Thus,
the people after getting the job only focus on
earning more money, while giving less importance
to relationship and right understanding. This
creates in number of problems at individual level-
(depression, anxiety, stress, suicides, etc.), family
level (breaking up of joint families, divorce, dowry,
deaths etc.) and society level (growing incidence of
terrorism, violence, communism, racial and ethnic
struggle, wars and sex crimes etc.).
AICTE is making an effort towards technical
education which is holistic, i.e., value-based as well
as multi-disciplinary and taught in multiple Indian
languages. It comprises of three components:
Education on values - Universal Human Values
(UHV) Exemplify living with values - Indian
Knowledge System (IKS). The new education
policy has come with great clarity on the
expectations from education. It states that
"education is fundamental for achieving full
human potential, developing an equitable and just
society, and promoting national development".
That means the graduates coming out of our
educational institutions must have the
commitment and competence to work on and
realise the aspirations articulated in NEP2020.
About the Workshop
The Human Value Cell under the flagship of Dr
Bhim Rao Ambedkar University, Agra is coming
with the workshop on Universal Human Values
towards Holistic Value based Education. The basic
idea behind this one day workshop is to sensitize
the faculty members about the scope of life -
individual, family, society and nature/existence.
Universal human values (UHV) play a significant
role in the whole life of a human being.
It provides well-tested foundational inputs which
are, rational, verifiable, all-encompassing and
leading to harmony, i.e., leading to well being of all.
This workshop will help in self exploration and will
enable to discover the values intrinsic in them. The
participants will enhance the ability to relate to
themselves, their family, their friends, their
institution and their role in the society.
