Target 140+ part 2 Lecture 29

GPAI stands for Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence.

− It is an international initiative focused on ensuring responsible and transparent use of Al.
− The partnership was launched in 2020 by 15 countries and the European Union.
− presently 29 members
− The goal of the partnership is to develop and share best practices for the ethical and safe development and
deployment of AI technologies.
− Experts from academia, industry, and civil society collaborate to achieve this goal.
− The Montreal Declaration for Responsible AI is a document that outlines a set of ethical principles for the
development and deployment of artificial intelligence (AI).
− It was created by a group of AI researchers and industry professionals who gathered in Montreal, Canada in 2018
to discuss the ethical implications of AI.

National Al Portal:
It is a joint initiative by the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), National e-Governance Division (NeGD) and
NASSCOM.

It serves as a central hub for Artificial Intelligence (AI) related news, learning, articles, events and activities etc., in India
and beyond

SUPACE-Supreme Court Portal for Assistance in Court's Efficiency.

It is a tool that collects relevant facts and laws and makes them available to a judge.

It is not designed to take decisions, but only to process facts and to make them available to judges looking for an input
for a decision.

Techsagar:
• Launched by: Data Security Council (DSCI) of India in a partnership with National Cyber Security Coordinator's
office
• Purpose: to discover India's technological capability through a portal.
• It is a consolidated and comprehensive repository of India's Cyber-Tech capabilities.
• It will provide insights about capabililies of the Indian Industry across 25 technology areas like internet of things
(IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) among others.

ARTPARK
• An AI & Robotics Technologies Park (ARTPARK) set up in Bengaluru will promote technology innovations in AI
(Artificial Intelligence) & Robotics leading to societal impact
• It is a unique not-for-profit foundation established by Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru with support from
Al Foundry in a public-private model.
• It is being funded from Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India, under the National Mission on
Inter-disciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS).

PIVOT
• It is Al-based tool developed by researchers at IIT Madras
• Aim- To predict cancer-causing genes in patient
• It is a machine learning (ML) tool and uses different data, viz. mutation & gene expression, to foresee cancer-
causing genes.
• It will help in formulating strategies for personalized cancer treatment.

Global Artificial Intelligence Summit & Awards

• It will be held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi
• Organized by AICRA (All India Council For Robotics & Automation)

Aim of Summit-
• To develop a roadmap on how to use the Al ecosystem and startups for the benefit of society.
• Focusing on the areas of defence, healthcare, agriculture, smart cities, mobility and education in partnership with
the government

AICRA-All India Council For Robotics & Automation

• It is a not-for-profit organization is the apex body.
• Established in 2014
• Purpose-Setting up standards in Robotics & Automation and education industry as well as helping over 35,00+
members organizations and professionals to solve difficult technical problems, while enhancing their leadership
and personal career capabilities.

Digital India BHASHINI (BHASHA INterface for India)

• It is India's Artificial Intelligence (AI) led language translation platform.
• A Bhashini Platform will make Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) resources available
to MSME, Startups and Individual Innovators in the public domain.
• Bhashini Platform is a part of the National Language Translation Mission under Ministry of Electronics and
Information Technology
• Mission Aim- To ensure that as more Indians connect to the internet, they are able to access global content in their
own languages
• Significance- It will empower Indian citizens by connecting them to the Digital Initiatives of the country in their
own language thereby leading to digital inclusion

National Educational Alliance for Technology (NEAT) Scheme

• It is an initiative of Ministry of education
• The scheme aims to use Artificial Intelligence to make learning more personalized and customized as per the
requirements of the learner.
• National Educational Alliance for Technology (NEAT) is to use technology for better learning outcomes in Higher
Education
• AICTE

Generative Al is a subset of artificial intelligence (AI) that focuses on creating machines that can generate new, original
content. This content can take many forms. including text, images, music, and even videos.

Generative AI systems are designed to learn patterns and features from existing data, and then use this knowledge to
create new content that is similar to the original data
carry out research on weather and climate, bioinformatics, computational chemistry, molecular dynamics, artificial
intelligence (AI), machine learning, data science, etc.

• FLOPS (floating point operations per second) are typically used to measure the performance of a computer's
processor.
• China highest super computer followed by USA

PARAM Ganga
High-Performance Computational (HPC) facility at IIT Roorkee

Having supercomputing capacity of 1.66 Petaflops.

Established by C-DAC under NSM.

Application
Aid researchers to solve complex problems of national importance and global significance.

Essential computer environment for modern-day research along with theoretical and experimental work.

Provide computational power to user community of IIT Roorkee and neighbouring academic institutions.

National Supercomputing Mission (NSM)

• Announced in 2015
• Estimated cost of Rs. 4,500 crores for 7 years.
• Three phases:

Phase I:- assembling supercomputers.

Phase II:- manufacturing certain components within the country.
Phase III:- where a supercomputer is designed by India.

• Mandate: To build and deploy 24 facilities with cumulative compute power of more than 64 Petaflops.
• Ministry: Joint by Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeiTY) the Department of Science and
Technology (DST)
• Implemented by Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc)
• C-DAC has responsibility to design, development, deployment, and commissioning the supercomputing systems

C-DAC
• Centre for Development of Advanced Computing
• Established 1988
• Research & Development organization of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) for carrying
out R&D in IT, Electronics and associated areas.
