Rationale

In Amd. 1 to IEC 60335-1- a new appendix P “Guidance for the applications of this standard to appliances
used in warm damp equable climates” was added.
The new annex requires in subclause 5.7 the ambient temperature for the tests of clauses 11 and 13 to be
40 +3/0°C.

As the tests specified in clauses 10, 11, 13 and subclause 19.103 of IEC 60335-2-24 are carried out at an
ambient temperature of 43°C ± 1°C on appliances of tropical (T) class, we propose the following amendment
to IEC 60335-2-24.

Amendment:

Replacement
Annex P
Subclause 5.7. The ambient temperature of the tests of clause 10, 11 and 13 is 43°C ±1°C as specified for
appliances of tropical (T) class in subclause 5.7.
