NEW CLARK CITY ATHLETICS STADIUM

It was March 5, Tuesday morning when we arrived at the first site of our
educational tour. At my first glanced at the stadium, I have immediately noticed the
large supports of the stadium. The roofing which encloses the stadium was made up
of big steel supporting structures with large extending canopies that makes the
stadium oval or circular. We did not get any information about on the stadium except
its 20,000-seating capacity alone.

MANDALUYONG CITY GYMNASIUM PROJECT

During our educational tour, 2nd day and this was the best site we visited so far.
When we arrived at the site, the project manager conducted a safety orientation
before entering the site. The project has 352 bored piles for its foundation, with a depth
of 45 meters because the site was used to be a river. And because of the design of
the structure, they needed 3 tower cranes to assemble the support which are the
trusses for the basketball court at the top and the trusses weighs over a hundred tons.
MALOLOS-CLARK RAILWAY PROJECT

The project is funded by Asian Development Bank with a partnership of Posco

E and C.A construction from Korea. Before we went to the site, we conducted another
orientation about Occupational Safety and Health because of the strict rules and
regulations inside the site. The only part of the project that we are allowed to visit was
the train workshop because we lacked of safety boots. The primary structural
members at the workshop are made up of steel components. The estimated used
steel were 1.4 million kilograms of steel. The workshop has more than 1400 pile
foundation with having a diameter of 500 mm and a depth of 32 meters.

METRO MANILA SUBWAY PROJECT

The most complex site we ever visited, from Valenzuela to NAIA TERMINAL 3
Pasay City. They discussed the methods per point because the project is very large.
They are building an Institution or training center for those who wants to become a
train operators, mechanics and drivers. The tunnel area is classified to show and we
only have to peek it. The tunnel boring machine has functions which are the cut and
cover. There are total of 19 tunnel boring machine, but there are only 3 working
machines. The yellow machine is called Gantry cranes used for moving materials and
tools inside the site.
