Through this study, we have been able to determine about the

various health and safety issues among nursing students on clinical learning.

Despite all the challenges, hardships, sacrifices, and trials we endured during the

conduct of the study, our dream in life came to reality. However, none of these

would have been possible without the important individuals who supported us

during the study. We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the people who

extended and shared their support throughout the conduct of the study.

ABSTRACT

Experience in the nursing clinical education reveals that nursing students’

behaviors and performances change in the clinical setting. This change can

negatively affect their learning, progress in patient care, and professional

performance. Identifying problems and challenges with which these students are

faced in the clinical learning environment can help stakeholders solve these

problems and contribute to them becoming professional as well as their

professional survival.

This study investigates the perceived health and safety issues among

nursing students on clinical learning. Employing a descriptive research design,

data was collected from a sample of 223 nursing students from 2 nd year, 3rd year

and 4th year nursing student selected through simple random sampling,

representing a total population of 526 nursing students enrolled in the 2 nd

semester. Utilizing a survey questionnaire distributed in printed format, the study

examined various aspects, including demographic profiles, perceptions on the

health and safety issues among nursing students on clinical learning. Findings

revealed that a significant majority of respondents were female (82.1%),age 20

years old (40.8%) and 2nd year students (45.7%). The study highlighted the

different perceived health and safety issues among nursing students on clinical

learning. Overall, respondents agreed they have different health issues (M= 3.85)

and a safety issues (3.87). The study underscores the perceived health and

safety issues of nursing students that somehow affects their clinical learning.
