1. What is Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR)? What is the impact of the

4IR to human life, livelihood, and food production and environment?

The Fourth Industrial Revolution can be described as the advent of “cyber-

physical systems” involving entirely new capabilities for people and machines.
It represents entirely new ways in which technology becomes embedded within
societies and even our human bodies. There are a lot of positive impacts of the
Fourth Industrial Revolution for example, the power and types of digital
devices, computing devices, and networks are rapidly developing day by day.
Gradual evolution of technologies and scientific innovations leads to new
educational disciplines’ creation. Communication has significantly improved
and made easier, distance is no longer a barrier when it comes to
communication, this has been proven especially during this pandemic we are
able to take classes online and submit modules and assignments with ease.
Progresses in medical sciences, due to Fourth Industrial Revolution are leading
to healthier lives; advanced intellectual and mental capability; and longer life
spans. Agriculture is also influenced, greater amounts of crops can be yielded
with the help of Bioengineering. With the help of machines, measuring crop
population and detection of weeds or plant are made easier. The Fourth
Industrial Revolution is about more than just technology-driven change; it is
also an opportunity to help everyone by creating an inclusive, human-centered
future through harnessing technologies.
2. Introduction on Agriculture 4.0 Conference and Exhibition 2020. What
is Agriculture 4.0 and how it is shaping human lives?

Agriculture 4.0 is a farming management model based upon observing,

measuring, and responding to inter and intra-field variability in crops. In plain words:
to produce more and better with less. Agriculture 4.0 is a term for the next big
trends facing the industry, including a greater focus on precision agriculture, the
internet of things (IOT) and the use of big data to drive greater business
efficiencies in the face of rising populations and climate change. Even though it’s
still not widely known, this fourth revolution in agriculture has been agile and its
benefits are beginning to show, helping farmers maximise crop yields and developing
ways to stop the epidemic of waste that destroys 45% of farm supplies. These
technologies help humans to make farming more efficient and increase crop yield thus
producing more food for the future population.

3. What is Agriculture 4.0? How is Agriculture 4.0 impacting food

production?

Agriculture 4.0 refers to systems that employ drones, robotics, Internet of

Things (IOT), vertical farms, artificial intelligence (AI), and solar energy.
Through the integration of digital technology into farming practices, companies
are able to increase yields, reduce costs, experience less crop damage, and
minimize water, fuel, and fertilizer usage. For the consumers, this equals to
cheaper and better food quality. However, there are some of the complex
challenges the crop production industry faces, along with diminishing production
profit margins for farmers. To grow the food and to provide the world needs, crop
production systems need innovative solutions to produce more in an
environmentally, economically, and socially viable way. So while the conceptual
framework, intentions, and the scope revolving around Agriculture 4.0 are thought
provoking and exciting at the first instance, its successful implementation is the
main challenge in many countries all over the world.
4. How digital farming is revolutionizing the future of food? How will this
revolution displace farm workers? Improve farm management?

Better technology has allowed farmers to feed more people and requires
fewer people to work on farms to feed their families. Changes in equipment have
made a large impact on the way farmers are able to farm and grow food. In the
past, farmers would have to do field work by hand or with horse-drawn
equipment. Since equipment and machines produce crops more efficiently
compared to farm workers who use traditional farming techniques, most
companies will probably switch to digital farming which will drastically improve
their output and increase crop yield leaving farm workers behind.
