REFLECTION 1

• Is about what you learned from the three artifacts.

• How did the student think about the issue before starting the SBA?

• What was the main idea or issue in the 3 selected pieces?

• What new knowledge did the student gain from each piece of material

1. State what you knew about the topic before starting the SBA.

2. For EACH artefact:

a. State the title

b. State the main idea or issue

c. State something new that was learned from the artifact/ how the information affected you

HINTS:

• The artifact title must be mentioned.

• Speak about each artifact separately.

• Each reflection must be 150 words

REFLECTION 2

• Choose to discuss ONE language strategy

• Try to use a different language strategy for each artifact.

• Example must be included.

• Effectiveness must be discussed.

• 150 words

For EACH artifact:

1. State the genre and title of the artifact.

2. Identify one language technique used.

3. Give an example of the language technique.

4. Comment on how effective the techniques in achieving the writer’s purpose

Choose one language device to speak about.

• Standard English/formal language is not a technique by itself.

• Be careful when using tone or mood. Many students do not explain its effectiveness well.

• Simple is better.
REFLECTION 3

• 150 words

• Not about the artifacts, solely about the student experience

• Students should elaborate on their experiences

1. What did the student learn about the topic?

2. Did the student’s research help him in any facet of his life (socially, academically, etc.)?
3. What was the student’s experience working in a group?
4. Was the group work challenging or beneficial? Does the student explain his opinion of
the experience?
5. How did the student cope with group challenges? Were the students able to help each
other?
6. Did the student have any other experiences and how did these help them to grow? Were
pre-conceived notions maintained or changed?
7. Did the student’s writing/vocabulary/public speaking improve?
8. Did the student’s self-discipline/time management increase?
9. Was the student motivated to get involved in any advocacy on the topic? Why?

Hints for Reflection 3
