1.0 OBJECTIVE:
This work method statement covers outline procedure for Brickworks for DESIGN AND BUILD
FOR THE PROPOSED OPTIMIZATION OF TERMINAL FACILITIES AND ITS ASSOCIATED

6.0 METHOD OF STATEMENT (METHODOLOGY)

6.1 PREPARATORY WORKS

6.1.1 Sufficient lighting, clean water, concrete mixer and cutting tool shall be made available
prior
to work commencement.
6.1.2 If brick lying is carried out externally, ensure working area is weather proof or avoid brick
laying on wet days.
6.1.3 Ensure all door frames within the work area are installed to the required level and
position.
6.1.4 Establish a reference for wall alignment setting out. Setting out and dimension shall be
according to approval drawing and coordinate with M&E services and architectural
element.
6.1.5 Ensure to achieve squareness of the wall during setting out.
6.1.6 All door frame position and stiffener have been marked accordingly and confirmed upon
inspection of wall setting out.
6.I.7 Conduct pre-brickworks inspection using "Work Inspection Checklist Brick Laying" as per
Inspection and Test Plan.
6.1.8 Approved door frame and accessories being place accordingly prior to brick laying

6.2 WORK METHODOLOGY

6.2.1 For ground floor, ensure to lay one layer of approved bituminous damp proof membrane
prior to brick lying.
6.2.2 Ensure the first layer of bricks placed within the bituminous damp proof membrane area.
6.2.3 Cement mortar mixture shall be as per specified in the Contract Document or as
approved by the S.O.
6.2.4 Wherever possible, the mortar shall be mixed using concrete mixer.
6.2.5 Exmet or wall tie shall be placed on top of bricks at every four course interval, Exmat shall
have proper lapping wherever required.
6.2.6 Brick keys shall be provided at alternate course for all right angled wall and junction walls.
6.2.7 All gaps between the individual bricks must be fully covered by consistency of min 10mm
cement mortar bedded.
6.2.8 Conduct a post-brickwork Inspection using "Work Inspection Checklist for Brick Laying" as
per Inspection and Test Plan.

6.2.9 Most bottom exmet reinforcement and tie rod shall be at second course above floor

7.0 ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

7.1 Environmental Aspect, Impact & Control Measures.

The airside activities that will be carried out during the operation stage and the potential
environmental impact that may occur is summarized with mitigation measures in the following
table.

9.0 SAFETY MEASUREMENT


i. All work is prohibited to start before receiving Permit to Work (PTW) by the Building Owner/
Project Owner.
ii. All site worker is compulsory to attend safety induction from the project authorities to ensure
that all worker is aware of site requirement.

iii. Use the proper tool for the job. Worker needs to avoid the first impulse to use whatever tool
(or object) is around you to get a work task done. Using the wrong tool for the job can result
in an injury or damage to the tool which can lead to an injury in the future.
iv. Always wear the proper PPE for the work task. All worker is obligated to ware complete
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety helmet, coverall, safety shoes and etc.
v. Working areas must be secured by preventing unauthorized access by using barrier and
signs.
vi. All worker is to make sure chemicals are properly labelled and stored. Improper labelling and
storage can lead to injuries or property loss due to fires, corrosion, etc.
vii. All workers need to stay alert of any potential hazards such as dangerous substance and
confined spaces, so that measures can be developed to eliminate and minimize the risks.
viii. All the workers must ensure that the working area is cleaned and is in safe condition after the
work is completed.
