Content Standard
The learner demonstrates understanding of how Anglo-American literature and other text types
serve as means of connecting to the world; also how to use ways of analysing one-act play and
different forms of verbals for him/her to skillfully perform in a one-act play.

Performance Standard
The learner skillfully performs in one-act play through utilizing effective verbal and non-verbal
strategies and ICT resources based on the following criteria: Focus, Voice, Delivery, and
Dramatic Conventions.

b. arrange the given events in chronological order; and
c. perform differentiated activities.

Driving Miss Daisy talks about a 72-year old woman,
Jewish and a widow who can no longer operate her car
safely.

The story of Driving Miss Daisy was based to a real-life


story of the author’s grandmother and her African-
American driver.

Who is Alfred Uhry?


- Is an American playwright and screenwriter
- Received an Academy Award, two Tony Awards
and the 1988 Pulitzer Prize for dramatic writing
for Driving Miss Daisy.

The students will read the plot synopsis of “Driving Miss


daisy” on page 406-408.

3. Who is Hoke? Describe him.
4. What are the characteristics of Miss Daisy.

DIFFERENTIATED ACTIVITIES
The class will be divided into four and each group will
have different sets of activities. Cooperate with your
groupmates to accomplish the task.

Group 1: CHARACTER TRAITS


Using a graphic organizer, give the characteristics of Miss
Daisy, Hoke Coleburn, and Bollie Werthan.

Group 2: SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS


Explain the quotation “Education is the most powerful
weapon which you can use to change the world” by
Nelson Mandela and cite situations that prove the
relevance and worth of this quote.

Group 3: SHORT SKIT


Create a short skit that shows a student being bullied
because of being different from others. Show how will you
react and respond to such situation.

Group 4: SING A SONG


Choose and sing a song that is relevant and connected to
the theme of Driving Miss Daisy.
