Beginning of Activity
Opening statement
I have the classroom map and a fly swatter, we will take turns going around the table and
everyone will hit the fly swatter on the area you want to work in to start work time in
Middle of Activity
Early:
Student will use the fly swatter to smack down on a random area on the classroom map. Using
a one or two word utterance explaining what they want to play with.
Middle:
Student will use the fly swatter to smack down on the area that they want to play in and will
follow through with their plan for at least the first 15 minutes of work time. Then using a simple
sentence to explain their plan for work time.
Later:
Student will use the fly swatter to smack down on the area they want to play in and will follow
through with their plan for the majority of their work time. Giving a very in depth plan with at
least three details of what they plan to do in their work time.
End of Activity
“Okay now that we have made our plans, I want my friends with the letter A in their name to
stand up and push their chairs in, I want my friends with the letter o in their name to stand
up and push in their chairs, etc. until everyone is dismissed.”
Follow-up Ideas
