II. Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon
him, said, “Be merciful to others, and you will receive mercy. Forgive
others, and Allah will forgive you.”
i. He forbade people from standing up in his presence or
from kneeling down to him in respect. He lived in a
simple house and ate simple food. Despite being a
Prophet and a person of significant following, he
never used his influence to live a life of ease. He lived
a life not of affluence but of humility and modesty.
ii. 'Iyad ibn Himar reported: The Messenger of Allah
(peace be upon him), said, “Verily, Allah has revealed
to me that you must be humble towards one another,
so that no one oppresses another or boasts to
another.”
1. Both before and after he was appointed as a prophet,
when it came to fulfilling promises he (peace and
blessings be upon him and his family) held a high position
and a well-deserved station. He would fulfill his promises
under all circumstances, whether they were made to
friends or enemies.
2. In various places in the Holy Qur'an we find that fulfilling
a promise has been made obligatory and highly
emphasised. For example, “and fulfill the promise, surely
(every) promise shall be questioned about.” (Surah al-
'Isra', 17:34).
The Prophet Muhammad was a perfect example of
an honest, just, merciful, compassionate, truthful, and brave
human being. Though he was a man, he was far removed
from all evil characteristics and strove solely for the sake of
God and His reward in the Hereafter.
Book 19, Number 4313: It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira
that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said : Do not desire an
encounter with the enemy; but when you encounter them, be firm.
a) He also treated the environment and animals with respect and mercy. He taught his
followers that because animals were part of God's creation they should be treated
with dignity and due care. The traditions of Prophet Muhammad remind us that
humankind was put on this earth to be the custodian of God's creation.
b) The Holy Qur'an says: “We sent you not, but as mercy for all creatures.” (Surah: Al-
Anbiya, Verse No. 107). The Prophet preached to people to show kindness not only to
each other but also to all living beings. He forbade any form of cruelty to animals.
Islam does not permit the rulers of the Islamic state to detain or
arrest a non-Muslim citizen unless he actually breaks the law of the
land. Islam grants and protects the right to education and property
and profession to its non-Muslim minorities in accordance with
their own belief system.
In the Quran, Allah says: “Allah forbids you not, with regards to
those who do not fight you for your faith, nor drive you out of your
homes, that you should deal kindly (tabarruhum - birr) and justly
(tuqsitu – qist) with them.”
It's important that we treat our sons and our
daughters equally. In actuality, we should realize
that our daughters are our keys to Jannah. Because
the Prophet (pbuh) as I mentioned, said that
whoever has a daughter and raises her well, marries
her off to a good family, teaches her Islam and raises
her.
The daughter has a responsibility or duty to cover
herself properly to live safely in society. She must
maintain her dignity and that of her family. She
must take care of her family. She must be loyal to
her husband after getting married.
In Islam a woman is a completely independent
personality. She can make any contract or bequest in
her own name. She is entitled to inherit in her
position as mother, as wife, as sister and as daughter.
She has perfect liberty to choose her husband.
Hadith Sahih Bukhari (9:89:252) states that a man
is expected to be the “guardian of [his] family,”
whereas a woman is expected to be the “guardian of
her husband's home and his children.”
•
God does not leave a mother's efforts unnoticed. In Islam, there is an understanding, that Paradise lies at the feet of the mother. One way to attain
Paradise in the after-life is by being good and taking care of the mother.
• Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet said: "One who makes efforts (to help) the widow or a poor person is like a mujahid (warrior) in the path of
Allah, or like one who stands up for prayers in the night and fasts in the day." Woman as mother commands great respect in Islam.
