Transfer Goal:
The student in the long run and on their own will be able to demonstrates understanding
of the different common types of bias and prejudices. And will be able to transfer learning by
showing how they handle biases and prejudices in life.

Enduring Understanding:
Students will understand that bias is simply preference though for many different
reasons. We all have our own preferences for one reason or another, to overcome this you must
accept anything. Prejudice is simply having a preconceived opinion of something without real
knowledge.

Essential Questions:
1. How are prejudice and bias created? How do we overcome them?

I: PRELIMINARIES (Introduction)

a. Pre-assessment/Review:
1. How often do you hear people criticizing groups without knowing anything about
them?
b. Focus:
1. Common types of Bias and Prejudice

c. Vocabulary:
1. Anchoring – To connect (something) to a solid base: to hold (something) firmly in
place
2. Exhibit – to show or reveal (something)
3. Inclination – a feeling of wanting to do something/ a tendency to do something
4. Preconceive – to form (an opinion) prior to actual knowledge or experience
5. Caste – a division of society based upon differences of wealth, rank, or occupation
6. Viewpoints – a way of looking at or thinking about something
7. Hindsight – the knowledge and understanding that you have about an event only
after it has happened

d. Motivation:
Instructions: Read the following scenarios. Categorize them by putting a check (√) in the
correct group of action where it belongs.

II: LESSON DEVELOPMENT (Interaction)

A. Presentation of Concepts
Students will know:
1. Bias and prejudice
Students will be able to:
1. Identify common types of bias and prejudice.
2. Write the experiences about bias and prejudice.
3. Appreciate the importance of the common types of bias and prejudice.

B. Activities:

Activity no. 1 – The teacher will let the students study and evaluate whether the given
scenarios contain the common types of prejudice.

C. Broadening of Concepts:
1. How are prejudice and bias created? How do we overcome them?

D. Integration

ICV/RV: EXCELLENCE: Integrity: takes decisive action against all forms of dishonesty
and unethical conduct.

ASK: How can you avoid academic dishonesty? How do you handle some?

SO:(Favoritism and Bullying)


The teacher will give scenarios to the students about bullying. The students will
respond in safe, positive ways.

LAD:(Araling Panlipunan: Religions, Racism, sexism during the colonial period):

ASK: What are the roots of gender inequality?

BR: Proverbs 11:03: The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness
of transgressors shall destroy them.
The bible text emphasizes the righteousness of individual and its reversed. If you’re
good to someone, goodness comes back to you. But if you display injustice towards or
against someone, it may lead you to conflicted deeds.

III: EVALUATION/ASSESSMENT
The teacher will let the students examine the given images closely. Identify which
image shows bias or prejudice. Write the word bias or prejudice as your answer.

IV. SUMMARY/ACTION (Transfer)


1. ASK: What was our lesson all about?
2. In your own little way, how did you handle your biases and prejudice in life?

V. PURPOSIVE ASSIGNMENT
1. Check yourself first. Using the FISH BONE graphic organizer. In your own words
and understanding, differentiate biases from prejudices.
