Founded in 1952, CNU has been cultivating the best minds in Korea under the
educational motto of " Creativity, Development, and Service to the Community"
during its proud history of 70 years. It has also been actively performing a key
role for national development as the most prestigious university in the central

The quota for international admissions is not predetermined. Admission will be decided based on
evaluation of the applicants’ academic proficiency.

04/ Things You Should Know Before Application

[ Application Process ]
∙ Applications for admission to Graduate School should be submitted by online only.
∙ If applicants apply for more than one unit during the application period or receive more than one
registration number, they will be disqualified.
∙ Any modification to desired major or cancellation is not allowed after completing the online admission
application.
※ Please ask the relevant department for details concerning information on your major.
∙ Please verify the accuracy of personal information on the required form as the applicant will take full
responsibility for errors of information and contact interruption(E-mail, Telephone etc). Admission will
be canceled if there are any false statements in the submitted documents or if the applicant’s
academic performance is deemed unsatisfactory.

[ Submission of Documents ]
∙ Original documents should be submitted. If not, copies must be authorized by the institution that
issued documents or notarized by a public notary in the country where the document was issued.
∙ All the documents in languages other than Korean or English must be notarized and translated into
English or Korean. Notarization must be done in the country where the document was issued.
∙ Submitted documents will become the property of CNU and will not be returned to the applicants.
The application fee is non-refundable. And if any of the submitted materials contain false information
or any applicant obtains approval of admission through in an unfair way, his/her admission will be
rescinded.
∙ The admissions staff has the right to require additional documents from applicants, should there be
any need to clarify the eligibility or to verify the authenticity of the submitted materials.
∙ Completed application materials will only be accepted if the documents arrive well before the
designated date : May 24(Fri) 18:00, 2024 (※ NOT VIA FAX or email)
∙ Applications whose documents don’t arrive until the deadline will be rescinded without notice(including
the application form).

∙ Applicants should check the notice on the admissions website(http://ipsi.cnu.ac.kr/html/gadm/) for
admission procedures. The applicants will take full responsibility for any disadvantages arising from
unconfirmed information.
※ Information such as important notes, timeline, and tuition fees will not be notified individually.
∙ If applicant is not possible to take the Evaluation of Applicant's Academic Proficiency, he/she has to
report about it in advance. If the reason is deemed to be *force majeure, a portion of the application
fee will be refunded.
(However, the application fee will not be refunded if the applicant was absent due to personal
circumstances, etc.)
* Force majeure reasons : natural disasters, hospitalization due to illness of the applicant, etc.
∙ Applicants will not be accepted if he/she is considered inappropriate even though the number of
enrolled students in the department is not at the maximum.
(CNU does not disclose information related to admission decisions such as the content of evaluation,
the grade or ranking of each applicant, and the reason of rejection or disqualification.)
∙ Successful applicants must actively cooperate in getting the verification of academic record form. If
not, it is possible to have his/her admission canceled. The admissions staff have the right to require
additional documents from the applicant to verify the authenticity of submitted materials.
∙ Admitted students should take procedures for paying tuition fees by the deadline and fulfill all the
procedures for admission.

05/ Eligibility and Requirements

A. Eligibility
1) Qualification Criteria
※ Applicants holding both Korean and other foreign citizenship cannot apply to our university
∙ Both the applicant and his/her parents are not citizens of Korea or
∙ Overseas Korean residents and foreign students who have completed their entire elementary, junior,
high school and undergraduate education outside of Korea

2) Academic Qualifications
∙ Master’s Degree Program : Applicants must hold, or expect to hold in prior to entering CNU,
a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent (or higher) degree from an accredited college or university
∙ Doctoral Degree Program : Applicants must hold, or expect to hold in prior to entering CNU,
a master’s degree or its equivalent (or higher) degree from an accredited college or university
∙ Integrated Master’s and Doctoral Degree Program 1 : Applicants must hold, or expect to hold in
prior to entering CNU, a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent (or higher) degree from an accredited
college or university
∙ Integrated Master’s and Doctoral Degree Program 2 : Applicants must satisfy all of the requirements below
- Applicants who are attending second or third semester of master's degree course in the same
major at CNU graduate school(excluding applicants who completed four semesters)
- Applicants who have completed at least 15 credits or are expected to complete 15 credits

- Confirmation Letter for Language Proficiency [From 4]

- Exception for language requirement : Applicants from nations where they regard English as an
official language
※ Note that the scholarships from Office of Student Affairs can be provided only for the
applicants who submitted a language proficiency test certificate.

∙ Notes on Language Proficiency

- Those who have taken the 93th TOPIK(Test of Proficiency in Korean) can apply with a test
identification slip and if the applicant gets TOPIK certificate level 4 or higher, the applicant
should submit the results by 18:00 on May 31(Fri), 2024.
- In the case of IIntegrated Master’s and Doctoral Degree Program 2, language proficiency is
recognized at the time of master's admission (not related to scholarship)
- If applicants submit a Confirmation Letter for Language Proficiency from a CNU advisor, they
must complete Level 4 or higher on TOPIK or Minimum score of TOEFL iBT 71, New TEPS 327,
TOEIC 700, IELTS 5.5 before thesis evaluation for graduation.

1) Sign up and log in to the online application program(JINHAK APPLY) via CNU admissions
web site. (http://plus.cnu.ac.kr/html/en/ or http://ipsi.cnu.ac.kr/html/gadm/)
2) Check the important notes for all applicants. Follow the instructions carefully and
type in all the required information for each step of the online application.
3) Fill out the application form according to the specifications in the section titled “원서접수(Apply)”.
※ Applicants must upload a recent photograph(3.5×4.5cm) via the on-line application.
4) The application fee (60,000 KRW or 50 USD) must be paid online within application period.
※ Application fee must be paid by the deadline. [May 24(Fri) 18:00, 2024]
※ Applicants cannot change his/her major and correct anything on the application form once the
application fee is paid. Check again to see if there is any error before payment.

∙The applicant whose parent has Korean nationality or both of parents are Korean and who
undertook his/her entire education(from the first year of elementary school to undergraduate
graduation) outside of Korea.
※ Korean nationals : Submit Immigration form Issued by the Immigration Office
※ Other nationals : Submit the enrollment certificate from the first year of elementary school to
undergraduate completion indicating the whole period of attendance.

D Language(Korean or English) Proficiency

※ Things that you need to be aware of

- Certificate must be valid by the deadlines of Online application.
- If the expiration date of the official English proficiency certificate is not specified, grades
obtained after May 25, 2022 is acceptable only.
- Certificate must be issued before the deadline of submissions.
- The scholarship can be granted only when submitting any language test certification.
- Some departments require applicants of a specific score of TOPIK for graduation. Contact the
relevant department and check this before admission.
- Most lectures are given in Korean. For more information, you must contact the relevant
department.
- If applicants submit a Confirmation Letter for Language Proficiency from a CNU advisor, they
must complete Level 4 or higher on TOPIK or Minimum score of TOEFL iBT 71, New TEPS
327, TOEIC 700, IELTS 5.5 before thesis evaluation for graduation.

※ Those who have taken the 93th TOPIK(Test of Proficiency in Korean) can apply with a test
identification slip and if the applicant gets TOPIK certificate level 4 or higher, the applicant
should submit the results by 18:00 on May 31(Fri), 2024.

※ Department of English Literature : Preference will be given to those holding both a certificate
of TOPIK level 4 or higher and an English proficiency certificate.
