IN SAFETY AUDITING

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES


The objective of the Course is to provide theoretical and practical training for participants who
require such competence and skills to conduct safety audits efficiently and effectively under the
Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Management) Regulations. After completing the
course, participants will be able to apply their knowledge to practice in their workplace.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
The course is divided into three stages.

Part A: Safety Management (Total 33 hours/11 lectures)


Part B: Safety Auditing (Total 27 hours/9 lectures)
Both Part A and B will be held on every Tuesday & Friday Evening from 19:00-22:00
Part C: Audit Project (45 hours) - To be completed within 6 months including the preparation of
audit plans, audit reports and an oral presentation of the audit findings.

The lectures will be presented in Cantonese with English terms. Handouts will be in English.

DURATION
Total Duration: 108 Hours (Include a 3 hours examination)
No attendance record will be counted in Part C (45 hours)

DATE OF COMMENCEMENT
20th February 2024 (Every Tuesday and Friday, 19:00 – 22:00, except Public Holidays)
Part A – 20th February to 26th March 2024
Part B – 2nd April to 30th April 2024

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA AND AWARD


The passing mark for the project and examination is 60. Students who have satisfactorily
completed the programme with an attendance of NOT less than 75% of the lectures and have
fulfilled the above examination and project requirements will be eligible for the award of a
Professional Certificate in Safety Auditing*.

Students who fail the abovementioned requirement please note “Other Requirements”

COURSE FEE
HK$15,000.00 (Intake 37). The payment for the course fee will be divided into 6 installments.
Installment Fee (HKD) Payment Due Date
1st installment $2,500.00 On or before 20th February 2024
2nd installment $2,500.00 On or before 1st March 2024
3rd installment $2,500.00 On or before 2nd April 2024
4th installment $2,500.00 On or before 10th May 2024
5th installment $2,500.00 On or before 7th June 2024
6th installment $2,500.00 On or before 5th July 2024
The fees must be paid prior to the payment due date.

PAYMENT METHOD
The payment for the course fee will be divided into 6 installments. Please complete the enrollment
form and return it with the enclosed cheque or cash for 1st installment in the amount of
HK$2,500.00 payable to “Occupational Safety & Health Management Institute”. A full refund will
be made for unsuccessful applicants.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants have to fulfill BOTH Chinese and English Language requirements with ONE of the
following attainments:

Language Requirement
Chinese (either one) English (either one)
 HKDSE Chinese Language Level 2; or  HKDSE English Language Level 2; or
 HKCEE Chinese Language E; or  HKCEE English Language (Syllabus B) at
 Passing a Chinese oral reading test in an Grade E; or
admission interview (*if needed).  IELTS 5.0 in the recent two years; or
 Previous academic qualification, taught
and assessed in English at QF level 4 or
above with QF credits comparable to or
more than that of the programme or at
Bachelor’s degree level.

AND
Academic & Working Experience Requirments (either one)
 Registered Safety Officer & Holding a Bachelor’s degree with at least TWO years of
relevant full-time work experience; or
 At least THREE years of relevant full-time work experience and a reference letter from
the employer

DEADLINES FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS


Application deadline: 18:00, 8th February 2024
Requirements: Completed application form and supporting documents are necessary for
submission.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
To obtain an awarded Certificate of attainment, students are required to pass both examinations
and submit all audit projects with 75 % lecture attendance.

If any student fails the course examination, he/she can apply for a re-examination in the next
intake. A re-examination fee of HK$1,000 will be charged for administration costs. If the student
fails the re-examination, he/she will be disqualified.

If the student fails the safety audit plan and/or safety audit report, the student will be disqualified
or he/she may apply for deferral to the next intake. A re-assessment fee of HK$5,000 will be
charged for administration costs. If the student fails the re-assessment, he/she will be disqualified.
