We have already entered data into
our worksheets. Entering data in
MS Excel is an important skill to
learn. We will now learn how to
format the contents of our
workbooks.
DATA FORMATTING
COMMANDS
The formatting commands used for data
are in the Font, Alignment, and Number
groups on the Home tab.
FONT GROUP
This group contains the
commands that are familiar to us
since we have been using them in
MS Word.

NUMBER GROUP
This contains the commands used for formatting
numerical data. We can change the format of numbers
by putting or removing decimals, putting commas for
bigger values, adding a percent sign (%) for
percentages, including currencies, among others.
In Excel, we can format a number
depending on what we need. Excel can
attach currency sign, for instance a peso
sign (₱), to numerical values. It can also
increase or decrease decimal places.

CELLS GROUP
There are three (3) main commands:

commands, when selected, have drop-
down menus that tell us what to insert,
delete, or format.
