PCA-Human Resource Frame Worksheet


Worksheet Objectives:
1. Describe the human resource frame
2. Apply the human resource frame to your personal case situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Briefly restate your situation from Module 1 and your role.

We have an organization that is merging departments, and the director is opposing their
will and making changes that are not going through all of the proper channels.

2) Describe how the human resources of the organization influenced the situation.

I think HR does not have much say in the department's operations. HR has had to stop
specific recruitment because the new deputy decided we do not need those positions. The
reason is they want to reclassify the position and recruit people from the outside. Our
organization preaches to promote within, but it makes it hard to believe them when they
make a move like this. We could have been fully staffed by the end of the month, but
now we must wait for the reclass and recite, which will take a unit probably fall to get
any new employees.

In my opinion, many people do not know how to communicate, and they will send an
email, saying this is a new rule, and many of the people in my workgroup do not like that
sort of communication. I think many of the people have complained to upper
management, but they are either too busy or just looking the other way.

3) Recommend how you would use the human resources for an alternative course of
action regarding your case.

I would have HR reeducate everyone in the department on all the policies and procedures
of the organization so everyone can be on the same page. I would make sure they did
their job and interview the workgroups to see how they think leadership should work or if
they are having any issues like being singled out or any type of discrimination that may
be going on.

Sometimes when people have been in leadership so long and have not worked with
different workgroups, they can become compliant with their leadership style and may
have to be reeducated in all of the dos and don'ts of the organization. HR should create a
positive work environment to ensure that everyone feels safe and heard to do the best
work they can without fear of retaliation.

4) Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned
about this frame.

There is not much that I think would change in my opinion after reading this chapter
because HR should be there to help the employees and protect them from any type of
leadership that is not following all of the policies and procurers of an origination. They
should be the first line of defense for employees and should not be used as a last resort.
They should be the first group you ask because you don't know if you can talk to the
wrong person. You could get in trouble because someone changed the narrative.

One thing we should all do is take the Myers-Briggs test so everyone knows what type of
person they are working with, leadership-wise and team-wise, and we can help people get
more insight into their coworkers' temperaments and management styles. Then maybe
have people take some classes on interpersonal conflict and emotional intelligence.
