2.0 GENERAL
This section summarizes the design concept, criteria, assumptions and approaches that are adopted in Civil
and Structural Engineering services for the project. The proposed values have been established as being the
most appropriate for the project, in full compliance with international standards and excellent practice taking
into consideration constrains and limitations associated with the project.
Design shall provide for the appropriate concrete thicknesses and steel reinforcement patterns for structural
members to resist bending moment, thrust and shear effects imposed by reasonable loads on the structure.
The following computer software shall be used to develop the structural load analysis for both of lateral and
vertical loads, however, to ensure the validity and adequacy of the analysis, more hand spot check will be
performed based on the basic academic procedures of the structural analysis and the experience of the
designer, all as part of the quality assurance and quality control internal plan.
Imposed loads at ground floor level (above level of RC Wall being considered).
Input data:
Ss = 0.6
S1 = 0.18
Site Class type : C
Response Modification Factor, R = 5.5
Importance Factor, I = 1.0
As provided:
Vertical: T16 @150mm
Horizontal: T12 @ 200mm
- By Etabs
Flexural Reinforcements:
Top = 233 mm^2, 3-T16 = 603 mm^2, hence sufficient!
Bottom = 48 mm^2 3-T16 = 603 mm^2, hence sufficient!
Shear Reinforcements:
Top and Bottom = 852 mm^2 T10 @ 150 = 1047 mm^2, hence sufficient!
- By Manual Calculation
From analysis:
Moment required = 35 KN.m
From analysis:
Shear required = 186 KN
