SHORT QUESTION (TWO MARKS EACH)

1. A physical quantity x is related to four measurable quantities a, b, c and d as follows:

X= a² b³ 𝑐 5/2 𝑑−1
The percentage error in the measurement of a, b, c and d are 1%, 2%, 3% and 4%,
respectively. What is the percentage error in quantity X? If the value of X calculated on
the basis of the above relation is 2.763 to what value should you round off the result.

2. An object is in uniform motion along a straight line, what will be the nature of position vs
time graph for the motion of object, if (i) 𝑋0 =positive, V is a negative constant. (ii) both
𝑋0 and V are negative constant. (iii) 𝑋0 = negative, V is a positive constant. (iv) both
𝑋0 and V are positive constant. where 𝑋0 is position at t = 0 and V is uniform velocity.

3. Calculate the area of a parallelogram whose adjacent sides are formed by the vectors
A = i-3j+k and B= 2i-j+3k

SHORT QUESTION (THREE MARKS EACH)

1. If velocity of light c, Planck’s constant h (Energy/ frequency) and gravitational constant G

are taken as fundamental quantities then express mass, length and time in terms of
dimensions of these quantities.

2. Two towns p and q are connected by a regular bus service with a bus leaving in either
direction every T min. A man cycling with a speed of 20 kmph in the direction p to q notices
that a bus goes past him every 18 min in the direction of his motion and every 6 min in
opposite direction. What is the period T of the bus service and with what speed (assumed
constant) do the buses ply on the road?

3. A ball moving is thrown at an angle of 60° with the horizontal, with initial speed of 30 m/s.
Calculate (a) time of flight of the ball. (b) horizontal range. (c) maximum height attained.
