Steps for using the HandiHaler®

1. Open the cover by pressing the green button and pulling up
2. Open the mouthpiece
3. Remove the capsule from the foil and insert into chamber
4. Close the mouthpiece firmly with a click
5. Hold the device upright and press the green button once and release
6. Breathe out gently, away from the device
7. Place lips around the mouthpiece without biting and form a good seal
8. Breathe in slowly and deeply
9. Hold breath for 5-10 seconds, or as long as comfortable
10. Breathe out gently, away from the device
11. Repeat steps 6 to 10 to ensure the capsule is empty
12. Tip out used capsule and discard
13. Wipe the mouthpiece with a dry tissue
14. Close the mouthpiece and cover

How do I clean and store the Handihaler®?

After each use wipe the mouthpiece with a dry tissue.
Once a month open the dust cap and mouthpiece, lift up the green lever and rinse with
warm water. Allow to air dry for 24 hours.
Do not store capsules in the HandiHaler®. Store capsules in the blister pack at room
temperature.

Check the expiry date and ask your pharmacist about disposal of medicines.
The HandiHaler needs to be replaced once a year.
