Question 1: What specific actions did you undertake to demonstrate exceptional dedication,
courage, and commitment to the City of Pasig, and how did these actions positively impact
the city and its residents?
Answer: In the eyes of civilians, when a police officer survives during an armed encounter,
that’s what their so-called courage or gallantry, dedication, and commitment as they commit
their lives to serve the country.
However, not only in operation but also in administration. Being in administration how to
demonstrate exceptional dedication, courage, and commitment? What is Dedication,
according to the Oxford Dictionary “the quality of being dedicated or committed to a task or
purpose” which interchanges with commitment, while courage is the quality of mind or spirit
that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc., without fear.
Being in the service for almost 12 years, I have been assigned to different divisions, I was
assigned in EOD (Explosives and Ordnance Division), DSOU operatives for drugs and
wanted personalities, Sub-station,TMRU, and SWAT. It's so easy to demonstrate exceptional
dedication when you are in the operation division however in administration how can
demonstrate that?
For me, it's plain and simple, by going to work from Monday to Saturday, from 6 am to 6 pm
undertake exceptional dedication, courage, and commitment to the City of Pasig. Some may
think how can that be exceptional? Well, it may not be exceptional on the others but on my
part, it is beyond exceptional, why? It is because I have four kids the eldest is 7 years old
and the youngest is 2 years old. I need to wake up at about 4 am to fix everything they need,
cook breakfast, and ensure that they still sleeping before I go to work as it breaks my heart to
see them crying when I go to work leaving them in the care of a YAYA. If worst comes to
worst, I am bringing my 3 and 2 years old at work and managing to work while I make sure
they don’t disturb the whole work in the office. It takes a lot of courage to leave those small
kids at home thinking whether or not they are in good care or not.
The positive impact now on the residents is even Being a Police, not a scary Job, LAHAT
KAYA KAHIT NANAY KA, BASTA MABUTI KA SA IBA TITINGALAIN AT IGAGALANG
KA NG IYONG KAPWA.
Question 2: What are concrete things you done to improve the image of the Pasig Police?
Answer: The big question is what I contribute to improve the image of Pasig City Police.
Many police officers are being awarded due to their operation work but we as admin officers
seldom receive those awards. Thus, what concrete things have we done to improve the
image of Pasig City?
Some do volunteer work, and community outreach programs which those in PCR usually do,
and enhance police visibility for those who do patrol activities, however, for those who are in
admin offices, those things do not apply to us. But what can I do to improve the image of
Pasig City Police? For me it's simple, my neighbors know that I am a police officer as they
saw me in uniform going to work, and they even ask some advice whenever they see me.
Being approachable is one of the methods to improve the image of the police. Before kids
were scared of the police but most of my neighbors saw me in uniform carrying my 2-year-
old kid and holding the 3-year-old in my other hand going to work, bringing them with me at
work had a big impact on them. Most of the kids approached me and the kids said hello as a
mirror that they should not be afraid of us. As the new generation dictates, every Filipino is a
hero whatever their profession is.
Thus, if within your community, you are a good citizen then you have done concrete things to
improve the image of the Pasig Police, as the saying goes PAG MABUTI KANG TAO
KAHIT SAAN KA MAGTUNGO IKAW AY IGAGALANG NG KAHIT SINO”. PAG PASIG
ELITE SIGURADO MAASAHAN AT BAIT.”
