MAXIMISING TEST RESULTS
The NAPLAN*-style Numeracy series focuses on the key skills and knowledge assessed in typical NAPLAN*-style
numeracy tests. Each book contains four, new, full-length tests, which can be photocopied and given to students to
prepare them for the yearly NAPLAN* tests. The first test is annotated with ‘things to know’, ‘hints’, ‘tips’ and ‘traps’,
which guide students through the questions, helping them to understand the test format and question requirements

and avoid common pitfalls.
Topics These practice tests are designed to help develop and refine students’ skills in Number, Chance and
Data, Measurement and Space and include problem solving and higher order abstract reasoning, which have become
features of the official, national tests.

The annotated test is designed to build students’ understanding and confidence about the
kinds of knowledge required to answer questions in the test, and also to provide them with
strategies for answering the different types of questions.
The other three tests provide students with valuable practice in sitting NAPLAN-style
tests, enabling students to become familiar with the style and presentation of questions and
consolidating their numeracy skills and knowledge. Complete answers to all four tests are
provided at the back of the book to assist with time-efficient marking.

NAPLAN*-style Numeracy
and avoid common pitfalls.
Topics These practice tests are designed to help develop and refine students’ skills in Number, Chance and
Data, Measurement and Space and include problem solving and higher order abstract reasoning, which have become
features of the official, national tests.
