(complaint and adjustment). Students are expected to write based on the given situations.

2. Test (20%)
This is an individual task. This is a standard test that will be conducted in Week 4/5 for the

which will consist of an email and a memo. Students are expected to write based on the
given situations. Answers are to be submitted online or in class, depending on where the
test is conducted.

3. Persuasive Speech – Monroe’s Motivated Sequence format (10%)

In pairs, students are required to prepare a speech using the above format. The persuasive
speech will promote a product or a service. Students should either create a new
product/service which is a need for a particular target group, or talk on an existing product/
service that is already available in the market. The speech should follow the 5-point plan

product/service they have chosen to present in the Persuasive Speech. Since they will be
working in a group, they can choose one of the products/services presented by their team
members. They will identify a need for the product/service by a certain target group (either
UBIS students, the public or both) and then proceed to plan a small business which will
promote the product with the aim of meeting the needs of the target group. They will
conduct an online survey with at least 50 respondents to probe into the need and
solution/s.

The proposal should be 10 to 15 pages excluding front pages, references and appendices.
Students are recommended to use Calibri, Arial or Times New Roman in font size 12 and to
use 1.5 spacing . Submission of the proposal is both online and a hard copy.

5. Business Proposal Presentation (10%)

In their respective groups, students are to present their business proposal. They should
mention all important aspects of the business, including their survey findings and analysis.
