Unveiling the Potential of Integrated Booklets: Exploration of their Role in Improving

PROJECT TITLE
Physics 9 Academic Achievement

Today’s world is rapidly evolving, and since innovations arises from problems in which
science provides prospects resolutions, it paves a way to innovate science education.
Science education nurtures the development of scientific inquiry skills and critical thinking
skills which are crucial for 21st century professionals. With this constant evolution,
educators required to continuously seek for advanced teaching approaches and in science,
learning would be possible through sets of hands-on activities, hypothesis testing and
problem solving.

Physics is one of the subject areas in science which is being feared by most students.
According to Tekwani in his article in 2020, Physics is being considered as a difficult
subject since it is demanding, it requires too many formulas to be learn, more definitions
and law to memorize, familiarization to much theory, and abstract topics where not all
students are capable to relate with. With this, the proponent aims to explore the untapped
potential of integrated booklets and their role in augmenting students’ academic
RATIONALE achievement in the context of Physics 9 education.

Integrated booklets have the potential to provide students with additional resources.
These booklets were able to present information in a visually appealing manner. Real-world
applications, conceptual summaries, and key ideas can be included in the booklet which
make it easy to understand physics especially when other instructional materials are not
readily available in the discussion. Through facilitating self-directed exploration with the
assistance of these booklets, educators empower students to assume control of their learning
achievement. This approach fosters a dynamic and interactive classroom atmosphere,
fostering an environment conducive to academic achievement.

Considering this, this study will try to create and innovate a booklet in facilitating
opportunities for adaptation in pedagogical practices in terms of learning Physics 9. The
researcher contends to provide chances for students to be equipped with supplementary
instructional materials in a form of booklet to enhance their learning in Physics 9 since not
everyone has an access in digital resources.

The main objective of this research project is to evaluate Physics 9 Academic Achievement
of selected Grade 9 learners upon the utilization of Integrated Booklet. Specifically, this
aims to
1. Analyse and compare the two groups of students; the control group and the
GOALS/PURPOSE experimental group (used the Integrated Booklet) regarding their Academic
Achievement in Physics 9.
2. Evaluate the relationship between the students’ level of Academic Achievement in
Physics 9 and Integrated booklet through hands-on learning activities anchored to
their level of comprehension, attention and retention or ability to recall.
3. Propose Integrated booklet in teaching Physics 9.
Method: Quasi-Experimental Research Approach
Data and Collection:
Primary – Conduct of pre-test in the two groups of participants to scrutinize the
range of understanding of participants about the lesson
Secondary – Utilization of integrated booklets combine with traditional teaching
approach to the experimental group, while traditional teaching approach
METHODOLOGY
only to control group
Tertiary – Conducting post- test to the two groups of participants to assess their
understanding after the utilization of traditional teaching approach and
integrated booklet
Participants – Selected 30 Grade 9 students

Analyses: Comparison of the scores in post-test of the two groups of participants
