NARRATIVE REPORT
“Being a teenager is a unique time in your life. It's a period where you're transitioning
from child to adult and it can be a bit confusing. The people around you are expecting
you have it all together, while you're still trying to figure things out.”

Last March 6, 2024 at 8:00 in the morning, Buga National High School had conducted a
symposium “UNCENSORED: 4.0 NAVIGATING ADOLESCENTS with the theme Rebuilding
Values and Empowering Teens Through Awareness and Support”. Where every topic
focuses only on what challenges thus teenagers facing nowadays and it includes:
Sexuality and Teenage Pregnancy, Health Issues, Personality Development and Mental
Health Adolescent, Bullying and Peer Pressure.

The program started with the welcome remarks of Mrs. Gilanes June Cagbay, MT II/ OIC,
followed by opening remarks given by Hon. Philip Camacho chairman committee on
Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) Brgy. Buga, Leon, Iloilo. Then the
introduction of speakers and symposium proper. The first Speaker was Mrs. Diana Jade
Candado-Cagampang, Nurse III, NIP coordinator, Leon RHU which tackled on the topic
about Personality Development and Mental Health, then Mrs. Lolita C. Camral on the
topic Healthy Young Ones.

Angel Grace A. Siaton, PPO 1 from Alimodian, Iloilo on the topic Sexuality and Teenage
Pregnancy. She tackled about teenage pregnancy which has gone up tremendously over
the years and she gives a lot of ideas on what are the effects if a young girl got pregnant
at early age it maybe a high risk for the child in their womb would born with health and
mental disorders. Infants born to adolescent mothers are at risk for low birth weight,
which is associated with infant mortality, undeveloped organs, bleeding of the brain,
respiratory distress syndrome, as well as intestinal problems.

Last speaker Miss Mary E. Cambalo PPO1- Leon on the topic Bullying and Peer Pressures.
The topic was focused on Peer pressure which actively affects the behavioral, cognitive
and psychological of a child such as eating disorders and low self-esteem can occur as a
result of peer pressure.

The highlight part of this activity was team building which facilitated by Barkada Kontra
Druga (BKD) Officers. All the students become learned on the different topics, actively
cooperated and enjoyed a lot on the different games. The activity was ended with a
closing remarks of Mrs. Ma. Girlie C. Cabillete, Buga NHS GAD coordinator.
