S.Y 2021-2022
Grade: 11/12 Semester: 1st
Core Subject: EARTH AND LIFE SCIENCE No. of Hours/Semester: 80 hrs.

Core Subject Description: This learning area is designed to provide a general background for the understanding of Earth Science and Biology. It presents the
history of the Earth through geologic time. It discusses the Earth’s structure, composition, and processes. Issues, concerns, and problems pertaining to natural hazards
are also included. It also deals with the basic principles and processes in the study of biology. It covers life processes and interactions at the cellular, organism,
population, and ecosystem levels.

Culminating Performance Standard: Conduct a survey to assess possible geological and hydrometeorological hazards that the community may experience.

PERFORMANCE TASK: Engaging Scenario

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in your locality is spearheading extensive symposia throughout the municipality. They need the help of the student body of
your school for a substantial action plan regarding environmental awareness of the student as well as the general public. You are assigned to make an action plan for the DENR and the
school’s further study and research on environmental remediation.

GOAL – Your task is to make an action plan for the mitigation of the current environmental issues and challenges of the community.

ROLE – You are the committee head of the “Friends of Nature Committee” of your school.

AUDIENCE – Students, Faculty and staff, the general public, researchers, and the DENR.

SITUATION – The local DENR wants to thrive in giving symposiums to the locals regarding environmental awareness. The DENR wants to be in partnership with your school and you are
assigned to make the action plan for their data presentation during the symposia.

PRODUCT – An action plan that tackles environmental issues and its mitigation and remediation. Included in your action plan are the recommendations for future researchers especially your
fellow students as well as the teachers of the school.

STANDARDS – Your output will be evaluated using the following rubric:
