Welcome to 2nd Grade!

Miss Eberly’s Room

About Me
My name is Megan Eberly, and I will be your child’s 2nd grade teacher for the ’24-’25
school year. I recently graduated from Lebanon Valley College and received my bachelor’s
degree in Early Childhood and Special Education. This will be my first year teaching, but I
have had various experiences in various grade levels during my time at LVC. I hope this
letter finds you well and provides some more information about my classroom, policies, and
contact information. I cannot wait to get to know you and your student more throughout the
school year! Please use my contact information below to reach out with any questions or
concerns.

Classroom Overview
Throughout the school year, your child will continue to grow in the various content areas we cover in second grade:
math, reading, writing, social studies, and science. In the classroom, we will utilize multiple hands-on learning tools
and technology to enhance your child’s understanding of the material being covered. In the classroom, students will
have a personal iPad to use at school and take home. It is their responsibility to ensure that it is taken home and
charged each night for the next day, as we will use them to access different educational apps, such as IXL and
Prodigy, which can be used at home to help your child practice their skills. I will have take-home folders that will be
sent home and returned to school each day, including any important papers, permission slips, or homework your
child should complete. My goal is not to provide too much extra work to be completed after school. However, I feel it
is essential for your child to get into the routine of completing outside work to review and build on different concepts
covered that day.

Classroom Policies
I am a firm believer in creating kind and compassionate human beings. That said, I stress a few key classroom rules
throughout the school year. I expect all students to be kind and respectful to themselves, peers, and teachers. I also
expect that all students come in each day and give it their all. I implement a positive reinforcement classroom
management plan that celebrates student success and emphasizes expected behaviors. If there are any hiccups
with behaviors, I will send letters home addressing what occurred, how it was handled, and any next steps if
needed, as I would like all of us to be on the same page!

Keeping in Touch!
Having an open line of communication is very important to me! You know your child best, so please share any
questions or concerns you may have throughout the school year. Emails are the best method of contact for me, as I
can easily see them pop up throughout the day, and the best times to reach out so that I can get back to you as
quickly as possible are 7 am – 8:15 am or 3:30 pm – 4:00 pm. I will do my best to get back to you within 24 hours.
