REFLECTION PAPER (PRELIM)

The Elements and Components of a Structure, as well as the Loads and Support
Connections, are the fundamental ideas and theories that I have mastered in previous
discussions. Learning the fundamentals in this course was quite helpful to me in understanding
more advanced subjects as our discussion progressed. How to use and make the most of a
calculator was one of the new abilities or strategies that I have acquired while taking this
program. Our instructor is extremely helpful with the examples he solves so we can better
understand the technique. He was gracious enough to tell us what to enter.
The difficulties I've faced are numerous since I find it quite difficult to comprehend
anything that incorporates numbers or other similar concepts. Because of how heated the room
gets and how challenging it is to concentrate in such heat, it is not ideal for learning. Last but
not least, given that we only attend this session once a week, it was difficult to retain the
knowledge. I've attempted to make friends in the class so that I can ask them questions when I
don't understand anything and form a little study group with them as one of the things I need
to do to get over it. I bought a portable tiny fan to solve the second issue so I could concentrate
on my studies rather than whining about the oppressive heat. And last, by studying the subjects
I struggle with at home and watching YouTube videos about them, I can put more effort into
mastering the subject at hand. I can advance my studying in this method and won't have any
difficulties the day of the assigned course.
Learning this course will benefit me in my career as an Architect because beams,
tension, and compression members are the three structural components that we must take into
account while building structures, residential, or building. Theory of Structures helps us think
more strategically and analyzes constant changes in our everyday life. Additionally, it aids in
the search for ideal solutions to issues created on by ongoing change. This course can be used
to calculate the amount of force exerted on the beam, taking into account the weight of vehicles,
pedestrians, and projected traffic and problems on the location of the structures or
establishments. The materials, size, and capacity can be calculated based on these variables.
Additionally, this course is important to Architects who practice their profession in an actual
construction field to relate and comprehend the terms and decision made by other professionals
such as the Engineers and field workers who are more knowledgeable in the topic at hand.
