THE EFFECT OF USING BICYCLES AS A TRANSPORTATION OF THE GRADE 11

LEARNERS OF NAGUILIAN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
A bicycle, also called a pedal cycle, bike, push-bike or cycle. This a human-
powered or motor-assisted, pedal-driven, singletrack vehicle, with two wheels
attached to a frame, one behind the other. A bicycle rider is called a cyclist, or
bicyclist. Also, bicycles are widely used for transportation, recreation, and sport.
Throughout the world, bicycles are essential to moving people and goods in areas
where there are few automobiles.
Bicycle, is popular on students because they can save money by using it
their main transportation. In Naguilian National High School (NNHS) some
students are using bicycle as their transportation. In this study we will going to
explore why these students prefer to use bicycle as their main transportation.
As a student of Naguilian National High School, we observed that there are
students who is mainly used bicycle as their transportation. Well, a bicycle is
known as one of mode of transportation specially for students. And it’s also an
international sport. In this study we only focused of what are the benefits and risk
of bicycle and also to know why the students prefer to use bike as their
transportation. We all know that using bicycle gives a lot of benefits, but there is a
risk also.
Bicycle as the main transportation of students gives a lot of benefits not only
for the students who’s using bicycle but also for their parents. In this exploration
we’re going to discuss about the effects of using bicycle of the Grade 11 learners of
the Naguilian National High School.
Before we conduct this study, we notice that there is only limited parking
space in our school. Some students are using bicycle as their transportation it can
be give some space in parking lot than the students who is using motor cycle. So,
we came up to make a study about the benefits they get of using bicycle and the
risk while they using it. And through this study, we can encourage other to use
bicycle, and we can also propose that its better to have a bike lane in our road for
more safety.
 This research will help to encourage other students who have bicycle or
willing to use bicycle, to just use it as their main transportation. And to give
information about the personal experience of the Grade 11 learners who’s using
bicycle, the risk, effects and the benefits of bicycle to them.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The study entitled “The Effect of Using Bicycle As a transportation For Grade-
11 Learners” aims to answer the following;

1) What are the benefits and risk of bicycle?

2) How is using bicycle affect the students?
3) What is the reason why they prefer using bicycle as transportation?

General Objective;
This study aims to determine the effect to Grade-11 learners when they use
bicycle as their main transportation to go to school.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES;
1) To identify their reason for bicycle preference;
2) To know what are the problems of using bicycle;
3) The benefits of using bicycle to students.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

This study examines the effect of bicycle to grade-11 students. The
respondents are the Grade-11 learners of NNSH who is using bicycle as their
transportation. The researchers are doing their research on their vacant time and
weekends. They also want to determine why the respondents prefer to use bicycle
as their main transportation.

IMPORTANCE OF THE STUDY

The study entitled “The effect of using bicycle as transportation of the
grade-11 learners” was conducted to know how the bicycle affect the lifestyle of
the students. Through this research the participant will know more about the
benefits of cycling and the benefits of this to students.
The result of this research study will benefit the following:

Learners. This study will help them to understand more about the effect of biking
to their body specially to the students who is using bicycle as their main
transportation. To encourage the others to use bicycle.

Parents And Guardian. This study helps the parent and guardian, for them to
lessen their expenses because they don’t need to give money for their kids to
commute. They also going to aware about the basic safety need of their children
like helmet and more.

Teachers. This study helps the teacher to encourage other of his/her students to
use bicycle, can help to propose a program because she/he already know
about the benefits of bicycle

Future Researchers. This study can be your guide, it can be your reference. And
you can continue or made a better one.
