Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic caused disruptions in the manufacturing and supply chains of medical devices all over the
world, as well as an unprecedented demand for some medical devices. Governments and health officials are
currently monitoring the supply chain for medical products, and they are working with manufacturers and other
stakeholders to evaluate the potential for disruptions and minimize the negative effects that these disruptions could
have on patients, health care providers, and the general public's health. The pandemic has an effect on the
manufacturers of medical devices. Medical device manufacturers collect clinical trial data from hospitals like
pharmaceutical companies. The majority of medical devices are required to go through pre and post market clinical
trials before being allowed on the market. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, companies that manufacture
medical devices are having a difficult time deciding what to do with their products, supply chains, and regulatory
obligations. Medical device professionals must request a pause during panic. No matter how bad it already is or how
bad it will get, careless action will make it worse. The adrenaline in our system is telling us to produce quickly, but
the priority at this point should be quality. The hospitals are collaborating with manufacturers of ventilators,
ventilator accessories, and other respiratory devices to gain a better understanding of the problems affecting the
COVID-19 supply chain and to forestall widespread shortages. During this global pandemic, the regulatory
environment for medical devices is quickly adapting to meet the challenge of supplying front-line healthcare
providers with sufficient personal protective equipment (PPE) and equipment necessary to save lives. The
manufacturers of medical devices need to step up to this challenge and seize these opportunities in order to bring
their products to market more quickly and assist us in getting through COVID-19 in a secure manner. This
worldwide crisis has a significant impact on ventilation systems. As the world works to combat the pandemic, there
is a severe shortage of thousands of ventilators. This study helps us to understand the factors impacting medical
device industry during pandemic in India.
