City monitoring is something that we can often see in cities in developed countries.

Obvious fact
about it is that surveillance cameras are increasing our safety but does it have any disadvantages?

Of course. For example government can use them to keep eye on citizens, they can see what people
do, with who do they meet or if they disagree with government policy. In Chine there is a special
ranking system with rates citizens. Those point can weigh on whether or not you get into college or If
you can use planes. City monitoring is tool which can take privacy and freedom of people way.

As for the advantages of this system, one could name a few. Firstly, Camera systems in public places
serve to deter crime. They could prevent minor offences like vandalism or muggings, as the potential
lawbreakers feel the presence of the electronic eye constantly watching them. Also, the system
gathers recorded data which can prove a useful aid in finding the offenders. The stored records can
also be used as evidence in court.

To conclude, I asked myself what value are more important for me freedom or safety. The answer
was safety. I also don’t trust government that they wouldn’t use monitoring to spy politics enemies. I
have no problem If shop owner uses monitoring in their locals or If the owner of private street is
doing it. But not the government.
