English Essay

(Helen keller) By: Keefe Lee 10 Science 1

In the novel of Miracle Workers the readers are faced with some of its right on
themes .One of the many was Perception and prejudice , it basically tells the tale about
one of it characters ,Annie .She was able to see the main character Helen , as an
equal .She didn’t look down on Helen for having an illness that took her ability of sight
and hearing ( scarlet fever or meningitis) .Instead she saw an opportunity to improve
Helen’s ability of sight and hearing.

Annie’s background relationship with the Helen family started with her job
acceptance in the family when she was 20 years old . She too had a background filled
with illness that could relate to Helen’s current illness disorder .Annie has a history with
sight illness, eye disease. She underwent a considerable amount of surgery that would
eventually improve her eye sight ability .When Annie was tasks with taking care of
Hellen , she undergo a massive amount of lengths teaching Helen how to communicate .
Unlike with some members of the family , Annie never took the grudge to fell on her
tantrums that would allow her to act disrespectfully toward Hellen. “It’s amazing how
Helen Keller went through all this,” said Olivia Castillo, who plays Helen in the show,
“and how Annie didn’t give up.” ("The Miracle Worker" tells the story of Helen Keller
and her teacher Annie Sullivan, 2019) .

Throughout the novel of Miracle Workers , the Helen family Mildred, Simpson,
Phillips and James Keller look down on Helen through her eye sight and hearing ability ,
basically her disabilities. They would have unintentional fights with Helen that would
terrorize the parent and sibling’s atmosphere. One out of th
e three sibling’s ,James who was at his teen period as Helen was growing up at the
time , would try and attempt to control Helen’s sudden impulsive act’s at the time. James
was the only one from the many sibling who would tried to curb Helen’s willfulness as a
child. “James tried to stand his ground to get her to behave”. (Betts, 2021) . In conclusion
we should not ever look down on people based on their disability.

With all that has been stated . prior by the theme , acts like these are still
happening through out the globe . We could see acts of good throughout equalism at the
present time. One of those are , School’s that would give mentally ill student’s the same
rights , or more to have the full experience of the school system. And that same goes to
people who are normalizing equal right’s to everybody either from race, background ,
skin tone , etc. However there are still cases where people would look down at a specific
differentiation. Cases like these would look like Jamari Dent suicide attempt, due to
severe bullying that are cause by his disability. Jamari Dent is a student at Carter G
Woodson Middle School in the Bronzville neighborhood. (Black, 2019)

In conclusion ,at this period of time, Acts of equalism would really support
people’s morality and overall experience toward having a happy life despite their
differences
