Chapter 1. Overview

1.1. Introduction

Thank you very much for purchasing our NWC490 Series auto check weigher.

Generally, our NWC490 Series auto check weigher is installed at the end of manufacturing
line like production machines and automatic packing machine etc, and is used for counting
all of produced items and sorting them out.

This machine can also be used to judge over and short for one item inside a bundle set item
based on standard weight value of a product or screen whether or not there is any omission
for a spare part or an accessory.

Besides, you can prevent from any defective items (under or over weight products) from
being shipping out by judging a product weight and manage production quantity and feed
back its corrected data to any linked production machines by analyzing measuring data.

Through the above, you will be able to protect your customers from any defective goods
and make effective production management and prevent any material loss.

Our NWC490 Series auto check weighers can extensively be used for various item ranges
(foods, confectionary, drink, detergents, organic chemicals, sintered products etc.). Also, it
can be used for variously packed products (pouch, carton box, PE and non-package etc.).

This manual describes the functions and using methods of NWC490 Series check weighers.

So, please read this manual book carefully and be familiar with it.

1.3. Cautions

1.3.1 Cautions for touch screen

1) Operating in touch method, use the machine by taking caution not to let foreign matters
stained on the LCD screen.
(Pollution of LCD screen may become a cause of machine mal-operation.)
2) Do NOT press the screen with excessive force.
3) Use the machine by touching screen with fingertip.
(Do NOT use sharp auger or nail etc on the screen. Or the product may be damaged.)
4) Do NOT apply color on the screen or attach sticker etc arbitrarily.
5) Wipe LCD screen slightly with soft cloth.
(Do NOT wipe with the use of chemicals or detergent etc.)

1.3.2. Cautions for the Instrument

1) Do NOT measure product of overweight other than standard or product that does not fit
the size.
2) Keep the machine condition always clean.
3) If voltage fluctuates severely, measuring error may occur. Use stable power.
4) Measuring part is installed on weight sensor. Do NOT apply shock or weight on
measuring part beyond standard level.
5) If the structure of measuring part is modified arbitrarily, measuring precision may drop.
Do NOT remodel measuring part.
6) For safety, the driving and stopping of conveyor and opening and closing of the rear
cover of control box shall be manipulated only by specified manager.
7) Check weight with standard counterweight before production.

5
1.4. Installation and Functional Check

1) Be sure to keep the conveyor of automatic weight sorting machine horizontal with the
ground. In order to adjust the sorting machine to horizontal condition, tighten the fixing
nuts lest the machine should shake while adjusting the machine with the adjusting bolts
mounted at the bottom of automatic weight sorting machine so that the four feet may
become level with one another.

2) Vibration and wind etc may cause measurement error. Take caution for vibration and
wind.

3) For smooth entrance and discharge of measured object, place each conveyor in cascade
type. For stable measuring, entrance part conveyor should be 0.5 to 1.0mm higher than
measuring part conveyor. If conveyor height is low, shock may be applied to measuring
part when measured object enters, and the problems of weight error and weight sensor
lifecycle reduction may occur.

4) Used voltage: Single phase AC220V 50/60Hz ±10% (For other specification, consult with
our company.)
* Install used voltage apart from power supply.
* Be sure to install the ground by all means.

5) Optimal temperature: 5℃~35℃ [41℉~95℉], ±2℃/hr

6) Optimal humidity: 35%~ 85%RH

7) Functional check
① Check the functions frequently as well as during test driving or re-installation.

Inputting item number

Inputting Tare value

Inputting Pass Weight

Inputting Over Weight value Changing Speed

Inputting Under Weight value

Inputting Dynamic Offset value

To use these for checking item number in sequential order (Please refer to the below description.)

⊙ Dynamic Offset Value

Dynamic Offset Value is the constant to calibrate the measured value while the conveyor is
moving close to that when it stops in case two of these values are different to each other.

Measured Value while the conveyor is moving x Dynamic Offset Value

≒ 1
Measured Value when the conveyor stops

So,

Dynamic Offset Value Measured Value when the conveyor stops

(n.nnnnn) Measured Value while the conveyor is moving

17
You can calculate Dynamic Offset Value in two different methods.
One is automatic calculation method and the other is manual calculation method and you
can refer to these methods from two of chapters (4.1.1 and 4.1.2)

4.1.1 Dynamic Offset Value (Automatic calculation method)

Step 1
Please place a product to test on a
measuring conveyor and input pass
weight.

Step 2
Please input number of repeat
measure and touch Repeat measure
button.

Step 3
Please operate the conveyor by
touching the conveyor picture.

Please pass a product to test on a

measuring conveyor as input Repeat
measure.

18
Step 4
Dynamic offset value is
automatically calculated and on the
screen.

Press touch “CONFORM” button.

4.1.2 Dynamic Offset Value (Manual calculation method)

Example)
In case measured value when the conveyor stops is 1,000 gram &
measured value when the conveyor is moving 1,004 gram

What is dynamic offset value?

Method 1) Theoretical Calculating Method:

Dynamic Offset Value Measured Value when the conveyor stops (1,000 gram)
≒ ≒ 0.99601
(n.nnnnn) Measured Value while the conveyor is moving (1,004 gram)

Method 2) Experimental Calculating Method

Please input temporal dynamic offset value (Basic Value: 1.00000) at first and compare the
different value between measured value when the conveyor stops and measured value while
the conveyor is moving.

Then, please close the gap between the above difference by inputting updated dynamic offset
value after checking transitional value of these difference repeatedly.

At this point, in case that measured value while the conveyor is moving is higher than
measured value when the conveyor stops, please lower down dynamic offset value than before.
Otherwise, please raise up dynamic offset value than before.

Example)
Initial dynamic offset value: 1.00000
Measured value when the conveyor stops: 1,000 gram
Measured value while the conveyor is moving: 1,004 gram

In the above example, please lower dynamic offset value to about 0.99500

Then, please repeat the above process by either raising it up and down based on checking both
measured values when the conveyor stops and moves.

19
In the beginning, please adjust dynamic offset value by unit of about 0.00500 ~ 0.00010 and
later on, please do so by unit of 0.0050 ~ 0.00010 more minutely.

If you input 99601,

0.99601 its value is shown as 0.99601 on the screen.
*One by theoretical calculating method and the other by
experimental calculating method are not always the same to
each other.

20
4.1.3 Setting Speed
Step 1
For more accurate speed set up, please enter
product length.

Step 2
If you already know product length,
please input its value by using keypad directly.

The graph on the left is to show transition of A/D values while a product to test is going
through a weighing conveyor. And, the picture on the right is to show 32 A/D values chosen
of the left direction on the basis of ‘Delay’ position on the left graph.

‘Delay’ : It determines after how much time needs to take to use 32 A/D values since a sensor started to detect.

‘Range’ : It determines how many A/D values will be averaged from the last point of delay section.
‘Average’ : It shows average values of Segment.

There should be as much A/D values on Judging section as possible and only values on the
horizontal section should be used for average to obtain more accurate measuring value.
