REV. FR. FR. ADRIANO TAPIADOR, SJ

AS PARISH PRIEST

SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT

10 December 2023
Mary the Queen Parish, Greenhills
MASS AND INSTALLATION OF FR. ADRIANO TAPIADOR, SJ 3

LIGHTING OF THE SECOND CANDLE

OF THE ADVENT WREATH
Commentator: We will now light the second candle of the Advent Wreathe, the
Candle of Peace. May we call on the family to
light the candle.

Family: Father, as we journey down this Advent road,

we relight the candle of hope,
and we light the candle of peace.
Grant us the courage to make peace:
peace in our hearts, peace in our homes,
and peace in our communities.
All: Amen.
PARISH PRIEST OF MARY THE QUEEN PARISH, GREENHILLS 4

Commentator: Good evening my dear brothers and sisters in Christ. We are now on
the Second Sunday of Advent. On this Sunday, we are called to call
on the Lord, who will come to save the nations, and will make the
glory of His voice be heard in the joy of our heart, just as what St.
John the Baptist heralded.

In our liturgy, we are going to witness the Installation of our new

Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Adriano Tapiador, SJ. Parish priests are
assigned in the church community to lead the faithful in their journey
of faith, hope, and love to God. As one community, we pray for him,
that he may be our good shepherd, after the heart of Jesus.

To preside our Eucharistic Banquet, is His Eminence, Jose F. Cardinal

Advincula, Jr., D.D., Archbishop of Manila. Please all rise.

THE INTRODUCTORY RITES

When the people are gathered, the Cardinal approaches the altar with the ministers while the Entrance
Chant is sung. In the entrance procession the Cardinal walks behind the Celebrant or concelebrants,
escorted by the Deacons and ministers.

Upon reaching the altar, the Celebrant or concelebrants make a deep bow, but if the blessed sacrament
is reserved in the sanctuary (chancel), they genuflect. Then they go up to the altar, kiss it, and go to
their appointed places.

After handing the pastoral staff to a minister and taking off the miter, the Cardinal, together with the
Deacons and ministers, makes a deep bow to the altar (or genuflects, as the case may be). Then he goes
up to the altar and kisses it.

If incense is used, the Cardinal, accompanied by the Deacons, incenses the altar in the usual way,
including the cross.

The Cardinal then goes in the most direct way to the chair along with his Deacons, who stand close to the
chair on either side, to be ready to assist him.
MASS AND INSTALLATION OF FR. ADRIANO TAPIADOR, SJ 5

When the Entrance Chant is concluded, the Cardinal and the faithful, standing, sign themselves with the
Sign of the Cross, while the Cardinal, facing the people, says:

Cardinal: In the name of the Father,

and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
People: Amen.

Then the Cardinal, extending his hands, greets the people, saying:

Cardinal: Peace be with you.

People: And with your spirit.

RITE OF INSTALLATION OF A PASTOR

Commentator: Now follows the Rite of Installation of our Pastor, Rev. Fr. Adriano
Tapiador, of the Society of Jesus. Please be seated.

The Cardinal moves to the seat provided for the Rite of Installation.

READING OF THE LETTER OF APPOINTMENT

All are seated while the letter of appointment is read. The commentator says:

Commentator: Let us now listen to the Reading of the Letter of Appointment by the
Socius to the Provincial of the Society of Jesus, Rev. Fr. Peter
Pojol, SJ.

The chancellor or a priest designated by the Cardinal shows the letter of appointment and then reads it.

After the reading of the letter of appointment, the Parish Priest kneels before the Cardinal and makes
the Profession of Faith.
PARISH PRIEST OF MARY THE QUEEN PARISH, GREENHILLS 6

PROFESSION OF FAITH
Commentator: Rev. Fr. Adriano Tapiador, SJ, will now proclaim the
profession of faith before the Archbishop of Manila, His
Eminence, Jose Cardinal Advincula.

The Cardinal addresses the Parish Priest, who kneels before him:

Cardinal: Remember, my brother, to be a loving

father always, a gentle shepherd,
and a wise teacher of your community,
so that you may lead them to Christ
who will strengthen you in all that you do.

I ask you now to make

your profession of faith
before the people of God.
The Parish Priest kneels and, with his right hand on the Book of Gospels, makes his profession of faith.

Fr. Adriano: I, Rev. Fr. Adriano Tapiador, SJ,

with firm faith,
believe and profess
each and everything that is contained
in the Symbol of faith, namely:
MASS AND INSTALLATION OF FR. ADRIANO TAPIADOR, SJ 7

I believe in one God, the Father almighty,

maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,

the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God, begotten, not made,
consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit
was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,

he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead and his
kingdom will have no end.
PARISH PRIEST OF MARY THE QUEEN PARISH, GREENHILLS 8

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord,

the giver of life, who proceeds
from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son
is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic

and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward
to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen

With firm faith, I also believe everything

contained in God’s Word, written or handed down
in tradition and proposed by the Church,
whether by way of solemn judgment
or through the ordinary and universal Magisterium,
as divinely revealed and calling for faith.

I also firmly accept and hold each and

everything that is proposed
definitively by the Church regarding
matters on faith and morals.
MASS AND INSTALLATION OF FR. ADRIANO TAPIADOR, SJ 9

Moreover,
I adhere with religious submission of
will and intellect to the teachings which
either the Roman Pontiff
or the College of Bishops enunciate
when they exercise the authentic
Magisterium, even if they proclaim
those teachings by an act that is not
definitive.

RENEWAL OF COMMITMENT TO PRIESTLY SERVICE

Commentator: Rev. Fr. Adriano Tapiador, SJ, will now renew his
commitment to the priestly service.
The Cardinal addresses the newly installed Parish Priest in these words:

Cardinal: My dear son,

in the presence of the people
confided to your care,
renew your promises
made at your ordination.
Cardinal: Are you resolved,
with the help of the Holy Spirit,
to discharge without fail your office
as a trusted partner,
cooperating with the Bishop
in caring for the Lord’s flock?

Fr. Adriano: I am.

Cardinal: Are you resolved

to exercise the ministry of the Word
worthily and with wisdom,
preaching the Gospel and explaining the
Catholic faith?
Fr. Adriano: I am.
MASS AND INSTALLATION OF FR. ADRIANO TAPIADOR, SJ 11

Cardinal: Are you resolved

to celebrate the mysteries of Christ
faithfully and religiously
as the Church has handed them down
to us for the glory of God
and the sanctification of Christians?

Fr. Adriano: I am.

Cardinal: Are you resolved
to unite yourself more closely everyday
to Christ the High Priest,
who offered himself for us to the Father
as a perfect sacrifice,
and to consecrate your life to God
for the salvation of men?

Fr. Adriano: I am, with the help of God.

The Cardinal continues:
Cardinal: Do you promise respect and obedience
to the diocesan Bishop,
and to your legitimate superior?

Fr. Adriano: I do.

Cardinal: May God who has begun

the good work in you
bring it to fulfillment.
PARISH PRIEST OF MARY THE QUEEN PARISH, GREENHILLS 12

GIVING OF THE TABERNACLE KEY

Commentator: Now follows the giving of the tabernacle key. As the new
Shepherd of the community, the Cardinal will give Fr.
Adriano the key of the Tabernacle.
Then the Cardinal says:
Cardinal: As the new shepherd of this community
I entrust to you the key of the tabernacle
as well as the baptistery
and the confessional.
May you be a faithful steward
of the mysteries of Christ.
Through your priestly ministry,
God’s people will be reborn
in the waters of baptism,
nourished with the living bread
and the word of life,
renewed through the sacraments,
and led in faith, hope and love.
The Cardinal entrusts to the newly installed Parish Priest the key of the tabernacle, leads him to the
tabernacle and to the presidential chair.

KISS OF PEACE
The Cardinal then greets the newly installed Parish Priest.

Commentator: We give thanks to God for the gift of a new Parish Priest, Rev.
Fr. Adriano Tapiador, SJ. We clap our hands.

The Cardinal continues until the end of the Liturgy of the Word.

Commentator: Please all rise.

MASS AND INSTALLATION OF FR. ADRIANO TAPIADOR, SJ 13

COLLECT
The Cardinal, with hands joined, says:

Cardinal: Let us pray.

And all pray in silence with the Cardinal for a while. Then the Cardinal, with hands extended, says:

Almighty and merciful God,

may no earthly undertaking
hinder those who set out in haste
to meet your Son,
but may our learning of heavenly wisdom
gain us admittance to his company.
Who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

People: Amen.

Then the reader goes to the ambo and reads the First Reading, while all sit and listen.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

Commentator: Please be seated for the Liturgy of the Word.
PARISH PRIEST OF MARY THE QUEEN PARISH, GREENHILLS 14

FIRST READING Isaiah 40:1-5, 9-11

Commentator: From Isaiah’s Book od Consolation, we hear God’s words of

comfort for his people exiles in Babylon. God has forgiven
their sins and will bring them back to their homeland. We
now listen to the First Reading.

A Reading from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah

Comfort, give comfort to my people, says your God.

Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her t
hat her service is at an end, her guilt is expiated;
indeed, she has received from the hand of the LORD double for all her sins.

A voice cries out:

In the desert prepare the way of the LORD!
Make straight in the wasteland a highway for our God!
Every valley shall be filled in,
every mountain and hill shall be made low;
the rugged land shall be made a plain,
the rough country, a broad valley.
Then the glory of the LORD shall be revealed,
and all people shall see it together;
for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.

Go up onto a high mountain, Zion, herald of glad tidings;

cry out at the top of your voice, Jerusalem, herald of good news!
Fear not to cry out and say to the cities of Judah: Here is your God!

Here comes with power the Lord GOD,

who rules by his strong arm; here is his reward with him,
his recompense before him.
Like a shepherd he feeds his flock; in his arms he gathers the lambs
carrying them in his bosom, and leading the ewes with care.
To indicate the end of the reading, the reader acclaims:

The Word of the Lord.

All reply:
Thanks be to God.
MASS AND INSTALLATION OF FR. ADRIANO TAPIADOR, SJ 15

RESPONSORIAL PSALM Psalm 85:9-10, 11-12, 13-14

R. Lord, let us see your kindness, and grant us your salvation.

I will hear what God proclaims;

the LORD — for he proclaims peace to his people.
Near indeed is his salvation to those who fear him, glory dwelling in our land.

R. Lord, let us see your kindness, and grant us your salvation.

Kindness and truth shall meet; justice and peace shall kiss.
Truth shall spring out of the earth,
and justice shall look down from heaven.

R. Lord, let us see your kindness, and grant us your salvation.

The LORD himself will give his benefits;

our land shall yield its increase. Justice shall walk before him,
and prepare the way of his steps.

R. Lord, let us see your kindness, and grant us your salvation.

PARISH PRIEST OF MARY THE QUEEN PARISH, GREENHILLS 16

SECOND READING 2 Peter 3:8-14

Commentator: Peter pictures the coming of the “day of the Lord” and
instructs us to prepare for this day by our holy repentance
and devout conduct.

A reading from the Second Letter of Saint Peter

Do not ignore this one fact, beloved,

that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years
and a thousand years like one day.
The Lord does not delay his promise, as some regard “delay,”
but he is patient with you,
not wishing that any should perish
but that all should come to repentance.
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief,
and then the heavens will pass away with a mighty roar
and the elements will be dissolved by fire,
and the earth and everything done on it will be found out.

Since everything is to be dissolved in this way, what

sort of persons ought you to be, conducting yourselves
in holiness and devotion,
waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because
of which the heavens will be dissolved in flames
and the elements melted by fire.
But according to his promise we await new heavens and a new earth
in which righteousness dwell.

Therefore, beloved, since you await these things,

be eager to be found without spot or blemish before him, at peace.

The Word of the Lord.

All reply:
Thanks be to God.
MASS AND INSTALLATION OF FR. ADRIANO TAPIADOR, SJ 17

There follows the Alleluia or another chant laid down by the rubrics, as the liturgical time requires.

Meanwhile, if incense is used, the Cardinal puts some into the thurible. After this, the Deacon who is
to proclaim the Gospel, bowing profoundly before the Cardinal, asks for the blessing.

Commentator: Please all rise for the Gospel acclamation.

ALLELUIA Luke 3:4, 6

R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths:
all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
PARISH PRIEST OF MARY THE QUEEN PARISH, GREENHILLS 18

Mark 1:1-8
GOSPEL

The Deacon then proceeds to the ambo, accompanied, if appropriate, by ministers with incense and
candles. There he says:

V. The Lord be with you.

R. And with your spirit.

V. + A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark

R. Glory to you, O Lord.
and, at the same time, he makes the Sign of the Cross on the book and on his forehead, lips, and
breast.

Then the Deacon incenses the book, if incense is used, and proclaims the Gospel.

The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God. As it

is written in Isaiah the prophet:
Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he
will prepare your way.
A voice of one crying out in the desert:
“Prepare the way of the Lord,
make straight his paths. “

John the Baptist appeared in the desert proclaiming

a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
People of the whole Judean countryside
and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem were going out to him
and were being baptized by him in the Jordan River
as they acknowledged their sins.
MASS AND INSTALLATION OF FR. ADRIANO TAPIADOR, SJ 19

John was clothed in camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist.
He fed on locusts and wild honey. And this is what he proclaimed:

“One mightier than I is coming after me.

I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his
sandals. I have baptized you with water;
he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
At the end of the Gospel, the Deacon acclaims:

The Gospel of the Lord.

All reply:

Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

At the conclusion of the Gospel, the Deacon carries the Book of Gospels to the Cardinal, who
kisses the book and blesses the people with it. All remain standing.

Commentator: Please remain standing for the Blessing of the Book of the
Gospel.

HOMILY
Commentator: Please be seated for the Homily.

All are seated while the newly installed Parish Priest delivers the homily.

Commentator: Please all rise for the Profession of Faith.

PARISH PRIEST OF MARY THE QUEEN PARISH, GREENHILLS 20

PROFESSION OF FAITH
At the end of the Homily, the Symbol or Profession of Faith or Creed, when prescribed, is either
sung or said:

I believe in one God, the Father almighty,

maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,

At the words that follow up to and including and became man, all bow.

and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,

and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,

he suffered death and was buried, and rose again
on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated
at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who
proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.

I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
MASS AND INSTALLATION OF FR. ADRIANO TAPIADOR, SJ 21

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL

Then follows the Universal Prayer, that is, the Prayer of the Faithful or Bidding Prayers.
The Cardinal introduces the prayer:

Cardinal: Let us harken to John the Baptist’s cry

to prepare the way of the Lord.
In expectant longing and joy
for the Master’s coming,
we pray to our loving Father:
R. Lord, hear our prayer.

For Pope Francis, bishops, priests, consecrated men and

women, and lay leaders serve as faithful heralds of God’s
designs, even in cases when they become lonely voices in
the desert. Let us pray to the Lord.

R. Lord, hear our prayer.

That we allow neither the sins and scandals in our family

life and in the Church nor the corruption in our society
to overcome the goodness and goodwill in our hearts.
Let us pray to the Lord.

R. Lord, hear our prayer.

For the Filipino Catholic families cherish the faith they

possess and share it to others in word and deed.
Let us pray to the Lord.

R. Lord, hear our prayer.

PARISH PRIEST OF MARY THE QUEEN PARISH, GREENHILLS 22

For all those who are sick may find spiritual consolation and
healing from people who are giving them care and assistance.
Let us pray to the Lord.

R. Lord, hear our prayer.

For all those who are physically handicapped may always

have the spirit and the determination
in finding meaning in their life and inspire others
to better appreciate what they have.
Let us pray to the Lord.

R. Lord, hear our prayer.

For our newly installed Parish Priest,

that God may bless him with perseverance and joy
in serving our Church and one another.
Let us pray to the Lord.

R. Lord, hear our prayer.

That the Lord give comfort to the dying and welcome the
souls of the faithful departed to the joy of paradise.
Let us pray to the Lord.

R. Lord, hear our prayer.

In the silence of our hearts, let us pray for our

intentions and the intentions of all who ask for our
prayers. (Moment of Silence) Let us pray to the Lord.

R. Lord, hear our prayer.

MASS AND INSTALLATION OF FR. ADRIANO TAPIADOR, SJ 23

The Cardinal concludes the prayer:

Cardinal: Father, give us the will and courage
to remove the obstacles that hinder
our encounter with you
and with one another.
May we prepare for your Son’s coming
with joy and anticipation.
Through Christ our Lord.

People: Amen.

After the general intercessions, the Cardinal sits and receives the miter. Then the Deacon and
ministers prepare the altar as usual.

Commentator: Please be seated for the Preparation of the Gifts.

LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST

PREPARATION OF THE ALTAR AND THE GIFTS

When all this has been done, the Offertory Chant begins. Meanwhile, the ministers place the
corporal, the purificator, the chalice, the pall, and the Missal on the altar.

It is desirable that the faithful express their participation by making an offering, bringing forward
bread and wine for the celebration of the Eucharist and perhaps other gifts to relieve the needs of the
Church and of the poor.

If the gifts are brought forward by the faithful, they are received by the Celebrant of the Mass or by the
Cardinal. After a deep bow to the Cardinal, the Celebrant goes to the altar and begins the Liturgy of the
Eucharist in accordance with the Order of Mass.

The Parish Priest, standing at the altar, takes the paten with the bread and holds it slightly raised
above the altar with both hands, saying in a low voice:
PARISH PRIEST OF MARY THE QUEEN PARISH, GREENHILLS 24

Fr. Adriano: Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation.

for through your goodness we have received
the bread we offer you: fruit of the earth and
work of human hands, it will become for us
the bread of life.
Then he places the paten with the bread on the corporal.
If, however, the Offertory Chant is not sung, the Parish Priest may speak these words aloud; at the end,
the people may acclaim:

People: Blessed be God for ever.

The Deacon pours wine and a little water into the chalice, saying quietly:

By the mystery of this water and wine

may we come to share in the divinity of Christ who
humbled himself to share in our humanity.
The Parish Priest then takes the chalice and holds it slightly raised above the altar with both hands,
saying in a low voice:

Fr. Adriano: Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation.

for through your goodness we have received
the wine we offer you: fruit of the vine
and work of human hands,
it will become our spiritual drink.
Then he places the chalice on the corporal.
If, however, the Offertory Chant is not sung, the Parish Priest may speak these words aloud; at the
end, the people may acclaim:

People: Blessed be God for ever.

MASS AND INSTALLATION OF FR. ADRIANO TAPIADOR, SJ 25

After this, the Parish Priest, bowing profoundly, says quietly:

Fr. Adriano: With humble spirit and contrite heart

may we be accepted by you, O Lord,
and may our sacrifice in your sight this day
be pleasing to you, Lord God.

If appropriate, he also incenses the offerings, the cross, and the altar. A Deacon then incenses the Parish
Priest and the people.

If there is an incensation, the Cardinal is incensed after the Celebrant; he puts aside the miter and
stands to receive the incensation. But if there is no incensation, the Cardinal puts aside the miter and
stands after the invitation Pray, brethren. He remains standing at the chair until the epiclesis in the
Eucharistic Prayer.

Then the Parish Priest, standing at the side of the altar, washes his hands, saying quietly:

Fr. Adriano: Wash me, O Lord, from my iniquity

and cleanse me from my sin.
Standing at the middle of the altar, facing the people, extending and then joining his hands, he says:

Fr. Adriano: Pray, brethren (brothers and sisters),

that my sacrifice and yours
may be acceptable to God,
the almighty Father.
The people rise and reply:

People: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands

for the praise and glory of his name,
for our good and the good of all his holy Church.
PARISH PRIEST OF MARY THE QUEEN PARISH, GREENHILLS 26

PRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS

Then the Parish Priest, with hands extended, says:
Fr. Adriano: Be pleased, O Lord,
with our humble prayers
and offerings, and, since
we have no merits to plead our cause,
come, we pray, to our rescue
with the protection of your mercy.
Through Christ our Lord.
The people acclaim:
People: Amen.

PREFACE I OF ADVENT
The two comings of Christ

Then the Parish Priest begins the Eucharistic Prayer.

Extending his hands, he says:

Fr. Adriano: The Lord be with you.

People: And with your spirit.

The Parish Priest, raising his hands, continues:

Fr. Adriano: Lift up your hearts.

People: We lift them up to the Lord.

The Parish Priest, with hands extended, adds:

Fr. Adriano: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

People: It is right and just.
MASS AND INSTALLATION OF FR. ADRIANO TAPIADOR, SJ 27

The Parish Priest, with hands extended, continues the Preface.

Fr. Adriano: It is truly right and just,
our duty and our salvation, always
and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal
God, through Christ our Lord.

For he assumed at his first coming

the lowliness of human flesh,
and so fulfilled the design
you formed long ago,
and opened for us the way
to eternal salvation, that,
when he comes again in glory
and majesty and all is at last
made manifest,
we who watch for that day
may inherit the great promise
in which now we dare to hope.

And so, with Angels and Archangels,

with Thrones and Dominions,
and with all the hosts and Powers
of heaven, we sing the hymn
of your glory,
as without end we acclaim:
PARISH PRIEST OF MARY THE QUEEN PARISH, GREENHILLS 28

SANCTUS
At the end of the Preface he joins his hands and concludes the Preface with the people, singing or saying
aloud:

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of Hosts.

Heaven and earth are full of your
glory. Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
From the epiclesis until after the elevation of the cup, the Parish Priest kneels facing the altar on a
kneeler provided for him either in front of the chair or in some other convenient place. After the
elevation, he stands once again at the chair.

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER II
The Parish Priest, with hands extended, says: Celebrant alone

Fr. Adriano: You are indeed Holy, O Lord,

the fount of all holiness.
He joins his hands and, holding them extended over the offerings, says: Celebrant with Concelebrants
Make holy, therefore, these gifts,
we pray, by sending down your Spirit
upon them like the dewfall,
He joins his hands and makes the Sign of the Cross once over the bread and the chalice together, saying:
so that they may become for us
the Body and + Blood of our Lord,
Jesus Christ.
He joins his hands.

In the formulas that follow, the words of the Lord should be pronounced clearly and distinctly, as the
nature of these words requires.
MASS AND INSTALLATION OF FR. ADRIANO TAPIADOR, SJ 29

At the time he was betrayed

and entered willingly into his Passion,
He takes the bread and, holding it slightly raised above the altar, continues:
he took bread and, giving thanks,
broke it, and gave it to his disciples,
saying:
He bows slightly.
TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT,
FOR THIS IS MY BODY,
WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.
He shows the consecrated host to the people, places it again on the paten, and genuflects in adoration.
After this, he continues:
In a similar way,
when supper was ended,
He takes the chalice and, holding it slightly raised above the altar, continues:
he took the chalice
and, once more giving thanks,
he gave it to his disciples, saying:
He bows slightly.
TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU,
AND DRINK FROM IT,
FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD,
THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND
ETERNAL COVENANT,
WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT
FOR YOU AND FOR MANY FOR
THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS.
DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.
He shows the chalice to the people, places it on the corporal, and genuflects in adoration.
PARISH PRIEST OF MARY THE QUEEN PARISH, GREENHILLS 30

Then he says: celebrant alone

Fr. Adriano: The mystery of faith.
And the people continue, acclaiming:
People: We proclaim your Death, O Lord,
and profess your Resurrection until you come again.
Then the Parish Priest, with hands extended, says: Celebrant with Concelebrants
Fr. Adriano: Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial
of his Death and Resurrection,
we offer you, Lord, the Bread of life
and the Chalice of salvation,
giving thanks that you have held us
worthy to be in your presence
and minister to you.

Humbly we pray that,

partaking of the Body and Blood
of Christ, we may be gathered

C1: Remember, Lord, your Church,

spread throughout the world,
and bring her to the fullness
of charity, together with Francis,
our Pope and Jose, our Bishop
and all the clergy.
MASS AND INSTALLATION OF FR. ADRIANO TAPIADOR, SJ 31

C2: Remember also our brothers and sisters

who have fallen asleep
in the hope of the resurrection, and all
who have died in your mercy:
welcome them into the light
of your face. Have mercy on us all,
we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin
Mary, Mother of God,
with Blessed Joseph, her spouse,
with the blessed Apostles, and all
the Saints who have pleased you
throughout the ages, we may merit
to be coheirs to eternal life,
and may praise and glorify you
He joins his hands.
through your Son, Jesus Christ.
He takes the chalice and the paten with the host and raising both, he says:
Celebrant with concelebrants
Fr. Adriano: THROUGH HIM, WITH HIM,
AND IN HIM, O GOD,
ALMIGHTY FATHER,
IN THE UNITY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT,
ALL GLORY AND HONOR IS YOURS,
FOR EVER AND EVER.
The people acclaim:
People: Amen.
PARISH PRIEST OF MARY THE QUEEN PARISH, GREENHILLS 32

COMMUNION RITE
After the chalice and paten have been set down, the Parish Priest, with hands joined, says:

Fr. Adriano: At the Savior’s command and formed

by divine teaching, we dare to say:
He extends his hands and, together with the people, continues:

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come, thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
With hands extended, the Parish Priest alone continues, saying:
Fr. Adriano: Deliver us, Lord, we pray,
from every evil,
graciously grant peace in our days,
that, by the help of your mercy,
we may be always free from sin
and safe from all distress,
as we await the blessed hope
and the coming of our Savior,
Jesus Christ.
He joins his hands.
The people conclude the prayer, acclaiming:
People: For the kingdom, the power and the glory
are yours now and for ever.

SIGN OF PEACE
Then the Parish Priest, with hands extended, says aloud:
Fr. Adriano: Lord Jesus Christ,
who said to your Apostles:
Peace I leave you, my peace I give you,
look not on our sins,
but on the faith of your Church,
and graciously grant her peace
and unity in accordance
with your will.
He joins his hands.
Who live and reign forever and ever.
The people reply:
People: Amen.
The Parish Priest, turned towards the people, extending and then joining his hands, adds:
Fr. Adriano: The peace of the Lord
be with you always.
People: And with your spirit.

Then, if appropriate, the Deacon adds:

Deacon: Let us offer each other
the sign of peace.
After the invitation Let us offer each other by the Deacon, the Cardinal gives the sign of peace to his
Deacons. And all offer one another a sign, in keeping with local customs, that expresses peace,
communion, and charity.

Then he takes the host, breaks it over the paten, and places a small piece in the chalice, saying quietly:
Fr. Adriano: May this mingling of the Body
and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ
bring eternal life to us who receive it.

BREAKING OF THE BREAD

Meanwhile the following is sung or said:

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the

world, have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the
world, have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the
world, grant us peace.
The invocation may even be repeated several times if the fraction is prolonged. Only the final
time, however, is grant us peace said.

PRIVATE PREPARATION

Then the Parish Priest, with hands joined, says quietly:

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God,

who, by the will of the Father
and the work of the Holy Spirit,
through your Death gave life to the world,
free me by this, your most holy Body and Blood,
from all my sins and from every evil;
keep me always faithful to your commandments,
and never let me be parted from you.

Or:

May the receiving of your Body and Blood, Lord Jesus Christ,
not bring me to judgment and condemnation,
but through your loving mercy
be for me protection in mind and body and a healing remedy.

COMMUNION
The Parish Priest genuflects, takes the host and, holding it slightly raised above the paten or
above the chalice, while facing the people, says aloud:

Fr. Adriano: Behold the Lamb of God,

behold him who takes away
the sins of the world.
Blessed are those called
to the supper of the Lamb.
And together with the people he adds once:
People: Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter
under my roof, but only say the word
and my soul shall be healed.

The Parish Priest, facing the altar, says quietly:

Fr. Adriano: May the Body of Christ keep me safe
for eternal life.

And he reverently consumes the Body of Christ. Then he takes the chalice and says quietly:

May the Blood of Christ keep me safe

for eternal life.
And he reverently consumes the Blood of Christ.

If the Cardinal receives communion, he takes the body and blood of the Lord at the altar, after the
Celebrant.
After this, he takes the paten or ciborium and approaches the communicants. The Parish Priest raises a
host slightly and shows it to each of the communicants, saying:

The Body of Christ.

The communicant replies:

Amen.

If a Deacon also distributes Holy Communion, he does so in the same manner.

While the Parish Priest is receiving the Body of Christ, the Communion Chant begins.
When the distribution of Communion is over, the Priest or a Deacon or an acolyte purifies the
paten over the chalice and also the chalice itself.

While he carries out the purification, the Priest says quietly:

Fr. Adriano: What has passed our lips as food,
O Lord, may we possess
in purity of heart,
that what has been given to us in time
may be our healing for eternity.
Then the Parish Priest may return to the chair. If appropriate, a sacred silence may be observed for a
while, or a psalm or other canticle of praise or a hymn may be sung.

During the communion of the faithful, the Cardinal may remain seated until the beginning of the
Prayer After Communion, which he says standing at the altar or at the chair.

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

Then, standing at the chair and facing the people, with hands joined, the Cardinal says:

Cardinal: Let us pray.

All pray in silence with the Cardinal for a while, unless silence has just been observed.
Then the Cardinal, with hands extended, says:
Replenished by the food
of spiritual nourishment,
we humbly beseech you, O Lord,
that, through our partaking
in this mystery, you may teach us
to judge wisely the things of earth
and hold firm to the things of heaven.
Through Christ our Lord.
The people acclaim:
People: Amen.
