Quantitative Techniques

Numeracy skills are important because the ability to work with quantitative
data has been identified as a core pillar of the 4th industrial revolution.
A grasp of how to work with quantitative information expands career
possibilities for learners, giving them an edge in the labour market. This IIE
qualification will provide learners with the basic introductory knowledge,
cognitive and conceptual tools and practical techniques for higher
education studies in quantitative techniques.

SKILLS YOU WILL DEVELOP


This IIE qualification will equip learners with the development of digital
tools for decision-making in the work context and skills such as applied
numeracy, logical thinking, critical thinking and creative problem-solving
skills to prepare learners for entry-level careers in the workplace.

DURATION
Face-to-face: This is a one-year full-time qualification offered by The
Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) at IIE Rosebank College.
Face-to-face lectures take place during the day on weekdays. Qualification
offered at the following campuses: Braamfontein, Bloemfontein, Durban
CBD, Pretoria CBD, Pietermaritzburg, Nelson Mandela Bay and Polokwane.

Distance/Online: This IIE qualification is available through IIE Distance

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The following is required to be considered for admission:

General Education
Development (GED) - An USA Candidates with a GED qualification may be admitted if they have
qualification developed by the a SAQA Evaluation Certificate with NSC L4 equivalence, as well as
American Council on Education minimum score of 145 out of 200 for all 4 GED subjects.
(ACE)

Candidates with an OQSF Level 5 or N4-N6 qualifications or


OQSF Qualifications combination of N3 and SC subjects, or an NSC (FET Colleges) with
N3 subjects may be admitted to Higher Certificate Studies.

• To be awarded this qualification, a minimum final year mark of 50% for
each module must be achieved.
• This factsheet is valid for the 2022 academic year only.
• The fees for all Online IIE qualifications include textbooks (ebooks).
Prescribed textbook will be supplied in e-book format. Where an e-book
is not available, the prescribed textbook will be provided in an alternate
format.
• Free software is available to all registered IIE Rosebank College students.
The software includes and is not limited to MS Excel, MS Project, MS
Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook, which come with Office 365
bundle. Students can access the software using their RCONNECT email
address at FTP//10.118.180.17/.

PROGRAMME REQUIREMENTS FOR BLENDED LEARNING


To get the best out of the blended learning experience, you will need a
computer or laptop with WIFI, Windows 8.1 or higher, Intel Pentium 4
Processor or higher, 1Ghz Processor or higher, 4 GB RAM or higher, 3 GB
of available disk space, and a screen resolution of a minimum 1280 x 800.
