**Page 1: Descrip/ve Sta/s/cs**

1. Calculate the mean, median, and mode for the following dataset:
\[ 12, 15, 18, 22, 18, 16, 20, 18 \]

2. The heights (in inches) of a group of students are: 63, 65, 68, 70, 72. Find the range and
standard devia/on.

3. A sample of 25 students scored the following on a test: \[ 85, 90, 88, 92, 78, 95, 87, 89, 82,
94, 88, 91, 79, 86, 93, 84, 90, 92, 88, 87, 89, 83, 96, 85, 88 \] Calculate the sample variance.

4. The monthly salaries (in dollars) of a group of employees are: \[ 4000, 4200, 3800, 4500, 4100
\] Calculate the mean and standard devia/on.

5. If a dataset has a skewness of -0.5, what does this indicate about the distribu/on?

**Solu/ons for Page 1:**

1. Mean: 17.75, Median: 18, Mode: 18

2. Range: 9, Standard Devia/on: 3.162

3. Sample Variance: 20.36

4. Mean: 4120, Standard Devia/on: 243.87

5. The distribu/on is nega/vely skewed.

**Page 2: Probability**

1. If P(A) = 0.4 and P(B) = 0.3, what is the probability of both events A and B occurring if they are
independent?

2. A standard six-sided die is rolled. Find the probability of rolling an even number.

3. In a deck of 52 cards, what is the probability of drawing a heart or a face card?

4. A bag contains 5 red balls, 3 blue balls, and 2 green balls. If one ball is drawn at random, what
is the probability that it is not red?

5. Two cards are drawn without replacement from a standard deck of cards. What is the
probability that both cards are kings?
**Solu/ons for Page 2:**

1. \( P(A \cap B) = P(A) \/mes P(B) = 0.12 \)

2. Probability of rolling an even number = \(\frac{1}{2}\)

3. \( P(\text{Heart or Face card}) = \frac{16}{52} \)

4. Probability of not drawing a red ball = \(\frac{5}{10} = \frac{1}{2}\)

5. Probability of drawing two kings = \(\frac{4}{52} \/mes \frac{3}{51} = \frac{1}{221}\)

**Page 3: Hypothesis Tes/ng**

1. A company claims that the average /me to resolve a customer complaint is less than 24
hours. Conduct a one-sample t-test with a significance level of 0.05 using a sample of 30
customer complaints with a mean resolu/on /me of 22 hours and a standard devia/on of 4
hours.

2. A study is conducted to test whether there is a significant difference in the test scores of two
groups of students. Conduct an independent samples t-test with a significance level of 0.01.
Group 1 has a mean score of 75 with a standard devia/on of 8 (n=25), and Group 2 has a mean
score of 80 with a standard devia/on of 7 (n=30).

3. Perform a chi-square test of independence for the following data:

| | Ate Healthy | Did Not Eat Healthy |

|--------------|-------------|---------------------|
| Lost Weight | 30 | 15 |
| No Weight Change | 20 | 25 |

4. A researcher wants to determine if there is a linear rela/onship between the number of

hours spent studying and the exam scores. Conduct a Pearson correla/on test using the
following data:

| Hours Studied | Exam Score |

|---------------|------------|
|5 | 60 |
|8 | 75 |
| 10 | 80 |
| 12 | 90 |
| 15 | 95 |
5. A manufacturing company claims that less than 5% of its products are defec/ve. Conduct a
hypothesis test using a sample of 200 products where 12 are found to be defec/ve.

**Solu/ons for Page 3:**

1. **Hypothesis:** \(H_0: \mu \geq 24, \, H_1: \mu < 24\). Result: Reject \(H_0\).

2. **Hypothesis:** \(H_0: \mu_1 = \mu_2, \, H_1: \mu_1 \neq \mu_2\). Result: Fail to reject
\(H_0\).

3. **Hypothesis:** \(H_0: \text{No associa/on}, \, H_1: \text{Associa/on}\). Result: Reject

\(H_0\).

4. **Hypothesis:** \(H_0: \rho = 0, \, H_1: \rho \neq 0\). Result: Correla/on is significant.

5. **Hypothesis:** \(H_0: p \geq 0.05, \, H_1: p < 0.05\). Result: Reject \(H_0\), conclude that
the propor/on of defec/ve products is less than 5%.
