E. DEMAND ANALYSIS
REPUBLIC ACT NO.11771“An Act Establishing the Cagayan de Oro City Cultural Center and
Museum”

Duterte signed the demand for this project in the year 2022 in the Republic Act No. 11771, An Act
Establishing the Cagayan de Oro City Cultural Center and Museum in the Province of Misamis
Oriental. It states that the museums and cultural centers "shall serve as the institutional medium for
the protection, preservation, presentation, and promotion of the cultural, artistic, archaeological, social,
historical, religious and philosophical heritage" of the aforementioned city and provinces.

Five-Year Tourism Master Plan Eyed For Cagayan De Oro City


According to the official website of the City Government of Cagayan De Oro, the City is
developing a Five-Year Tourism Master Plan. It remains a premier tourist spot in Misamis Oriental
province due to its role as the getaway and central hub of Northern Mindanao. By implementing
suitable trends in Philippine Tourism such as health/wellness, business, and educational tourism.
According to the City Tourism and Cultural Affairs office chief Rico Libre, To increase the number of
tourist attractions underlined the need to boost tourism in the city's mountain barangays and
hinterland. Additionally, he emphasized that the city must concentrate on promoting eco-cultural
tourism, with a particular focus on the Lumad population. Libre also underlined the value of protecting
and advancing the Higaonon tribes' culture in particular, emphasizing how important it is to do so to
enhance the cultural legacy of the city.

Despite of the progressive growth and development in the City, the City Government actively promotes
the preservation and conservation of its rich historical and cultural heritage. To sustain this effort, there
is an urgent need to formulate and implement local ordinances that are crafted specially to protect,
preserve and conserve existing vestiges of heritage, contextualize school curriculum to include local
history and heritage, and improve and strengthen the competency and advocacy arm of the City on
local history and heritage. The City Government is finalizing the first-ever Cagayan de Oro City Cultural
and Tourism Master Plan.

Local Population in Cagayan De Oro

The World Population Review estimates that 820, 297 people call Cagayan De Oro home. The
report also mentioned Cagayan De Oro City's growth from the previous year, which was 17,103, or
2.13% more annually. These figures refer to Cagayan De Oro City's urban agglomeration, which
normally consists of the city's population as well as nearby suburban districts. (Cagayan de Oro City

School Going-Age, and Working-Age Percentage in Cagayan De Oro

The table shows the percentage and number of both variables–School Going-Age, and the percentage
of Working-Age in Cagayan de Oro. In addition, the population of Cagayan de Oro is predicted to rise
at an annual growth rate of 2.69%, from 602,088 in 2010 to 827,600 in 2022. The oldest age group will

According to the calculated age dependency ratios, there are 44 young dependents for every 100
people in Cagayan de Oro who are working age; 6 elderly or senior citizens for every 100 people who
are working age; and 50 dependents in total—young and old—for every 100 people who are working

advisory services, highlights Cagayan de Oro's tourism industry. The city attracts roughly 640,000
tourists annually, with the vast majority (95%) being local visitors. Popular tourist destinations include
eco-tourism villages, parks, museums, and scenic landscapes.
