1.) Discuss the safe sexual behaviors that a nurse should incorporate into an education plan to
prevent HIV/AIDS.

- HIV, also called human immunodeficiency virus, it is a type of virus that will attack our
immune system. This disease is a very serious and if this disease is not treated directly, it
may eventually lead to AIDS, Acquired immunodeficiency. This type of virus is usually
caused by humans themselves. You either get them through contact with an infected
blood, semen, or vaginal fluids. Usually, the most common way for a person to get HIV
through having unprotected sex with anyone who has HIV. We may never know if a
person has HIV or aids so it is better to be careful. Education plays a very important role
in fighting against HIV/AIDS. The nurse should incorporate these behaviors to their
education plan. There are certain safe sexual behaviors that a nurse must incorporate into
an education plan in order to prevent HIV/AIDS. First off, the nurse should put in to
their education plan to have abstinence, meaning not having sex. The nurse should also
take not and take into consideration the sharing of needles because that also is one way
to transmit the HIV virus and pass it to someone else.

2.) Describe some of the adverse effects associated with HIV treatment.
- Treatment for HIV are HIV medications that are helpful in making a person lead a
longer, healthier life. Just like any other medications/drugs, each medication comes with
great side effects or adverse effects. These effects may vary from mild to life
threatening. These are some medications and with their adverse effects:

Abacavir- this is a type of human immunodeficiency virus medication and it works


by decreasing the amount of HIV in the blood. Abacavir is in a class of medications
called nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). The common side effects
associated with this medication is Hypersensitivity reaction, increase in cholesterol,
possible risk of heart disease.

Efavirenz- is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) and is used as


part of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) for the treatment of a human
immunodeficiency virus (HIV) type 1. Common adverse effects associated with this
medication is Vivid dreams, anxiety, depression, insomnia, skin rash, liver damage,
suicidal ideation.

Viramune -viramune tablets and Viramune oral solution are prescription HIV-1
medicines used with other HIV-1 medicines to treat HIV-1 (Human Immunodeficiency
Virus 1) in adults and in children 15 days of age or older. HIV-1 is the virus that causes
AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome). Common side effects associated with
this medication is Skin rash, liver damage Depression, difficulty sleeping, skin rash,
suicidal ideation
