I. Objectives
At the end of 50 minutes’ discussion, the students are expected to:
a. explain what computer ethics is;
b. create do’s and don’ts users must know in using the internet and the
computer; and
c. develop strategies in making ethical decisions when using computers
through essay.

A. Preliminary Activities
Prayer
The teacher asks one student to lead a prayer.
Greetings
The teacher greets the students.
Checking of attendance
The teacher checks and records the attendance of the
students.
Review
The teacher asks the class about the previous lesson.
Motivation
The teacher leads the energizer entitled “girl in the
mirror”.

B. Lesson Proper
A. Activity
The teacher groups the students into 4 and asks them to create
do’s and don’ts users must know in using the internet and the
computer.
Analysis
The teacher asks random students to answer the following
questions:
1. In using internet and computer, what are the do’s and
don’ts?
2. Why is it important to govern a rule in using computer?
B. Abstraction
The teacher discusses the Computer Ethics.
Ethics is a branch of philosophy that deals with determining
what is right and wrong. It also refers to a set of moral principles
that govern an individual or a group on what is
considered acceptable behavior while using a computer.
People rely on computers to handle the more tedious details of
their social, business, and financial lives. Imagine what would
happen if an enemy or a business competitor got access to your
email account, bank account, Facebook profile, and company
website? They could destroy your reputation in a matter of
hours. Therefore, we need to study Computer Ethics.
The idea of Computer Ethics was invented in 1950 by MIT
professor Norbert Wiener. Norbert predicted that the world
would undergo “a second industrial revolution” — an “automatic
age” with “enormous potential for good and evil”. Today we live
in that world! Why did he say this? Airplane drones can bomb a
target while the pilot is safe in a computer room thousands of

Both phrases are frequently interchanged and are often combined with
the concept of a ’netizen’ which itself is a contraction of the words

internet and citizen and refers to a person who uses the internet to
participate in society and an individual who has accepted the responsibility
of using the internet in productive and socially responsible ways.
