LESSON 6

6.1 SKILL DEVELOPMENT: Warm up and Review


Practice these sentences a few times until you can write them accurately and easily. Be sure to
include the punctuation marks also.
Is your race Tuesday? Is Sasa a star? Ray is true, too.
Take Rosa to the railroad tour. The railroad tour starts on Saturday. Ross is at
the tour, too. Respect Rey. The store is over the street.

6.2 NEW KEYS: Initial P and Final P (-P)

Initial P is written by the left middle finger in the home position


Final P is written by the right middle finger in the home position.

6.3 KEYBOARD PRACTICE

Practice these sentences on new words. Try to concentrate on the new letter and finger dexterity
on the keyboard.

6.4 CONSONANT COMPOUNDS: PR, SP, -PS


PR is written by the left third and index fingers. Write SP by the left small and middle
fingers. Depress –PS by the right middle and small fingers.

7.1 SKILL BUILDING
Review the brief forms and phrases. Write these sentences. Repeat any phrases or word
which is difficult to you. Relax and let your fingers do the writing.

Sasa is a star. The president is present at the sports race. The pear is rare. Sara
is at the States Street.
Is the statue at your store? The superintendent praises the president’s tour.
Start the tour on Tuesday. The plaintiff is present at the important tour.

7.2 THE GENIUS OF THE KEYBOARD

You will notice that the keyboard does not have all the letter of the alphabet. The genius
of the machine shorthand keyboard is that it is so arranged that it permits to write all the vowels
and consonant sounds through the masterful use of letter combinations to represent these letters
which are missing. The writing of letter combination will allow you to keep your fingers close to
home row position for complete control of all speed levels during dictation.

7.3 FIRST LETTER COMBINATION: Vowel I and Initial N

Vowel I is represented by letter EU. Write I by depressing vowels E and U with the right
thumb. EU appears at the center of the paper tape/screen.

Initial N is represented by letter combination TPH . Write initial N by depressing the 3 keys
TPH together by the left ring, middle and index fingers.

7.4 KEYBOARD PRACTICE


Write these words and sentences on new letters. Then read your paper
tape/screen to check the accuracy of your writing and to become accustomed to your
new letters.

8.1 SKILL REVIEW
This lesson presents review of the past lessons. Try to write these sentences
smoothly with a quick, light stroke. If you are able to write the entire paragraph
without striking an errors, you are doing well now. If not, just repeat writing the
difficult words you remember.

President states true important points. His part is to state the statutes.
Pass the straps to the superintendent. Any star is nice. The April race is

9.1 SKILL DEVELOPMENT- Warm up review
Write these sentences in review. Relax and let your fingers to the writing.

Advertise the sports in the news. Your number is not right. The plaintiff
is in the city tonight. Your tires are not tight. Put the rice on the tray.
Pass the tray to Naty. Art take the stew to the nurse. Tato ate the nut, too.
It is another race? Ray stares at the spare part.

9.2 NEW LETTERS: Vowel E and Final N (-N)


Write vowel E by depressing the inside key on the right side of the bottom keys
with the right thumb.

Final N is represented by letter combination PR. Write -N by depressing the


crack between P and B with the right middle finger.

9.3 KEYBOARD PRACTICE


Practice the following words and sentences. Try to increase the rate at which you
are writing while maintaining accuracy.

Write these sentences which emphasize the new letters. Repeat the new words
until you can write them smoothly.

The sun is up in Tan Street. Set the net price. Ray takes the pan to Rizza.

President signs the important news. Pas tries a new site.

9.4 ABBREVIATIONS. Write these new abbreviations as accurately as you

The principal takes Ray’s opinion. Tune in the important news. It is

9.5 WORD ENDING ST


The final T is omitted in writing words ending in ST. practice the following words
and sentences.

In writing words with ses, sis and sus omit the middle and write the double S
instead. Follow the following pattern.

10.1 SKILL REVIEW – Warm up review


Write these sentences, then read your for accuracy.

The new superintendents is in any Sunday. The number is taken. It pays

the top number.

10.2 NEW KEYS: Initial C and Final C (-C)


Note: There are two sounds of C-the hard C which is represented by K like car
(kar) and the soft C which is represented by S like city (siti)
Initial C. Hard C (K) is written by the left ring finger below the letter T and
soft C (S) is written by the left small finger.
Final C (-C) is represented by letter combination BG. These keys are written
by the right middle and ring fingers below homekeys PL.

10.5 KEYBOARD PRACTICE

The superintendent knows your character. The island is pretty at night.

10.7 SPEED BUILDING.


Try to take the dictation as accurately as you can. Listen attentively to the
dictation and let your dingers do the writing.

10.8 THE USE OF ASTERISK (**)


We use one asterisk (*) for correction, two asterisk (**) to indicate a paragraph
and three (***) to separate two dictated letters or articles or materials.
